Our Week of Learning...

  • in math, we began Module 2. Module 2 has many different units of study. We began with telling time. We are telling time to the minute. We are also working on elapsed time. Please practice with your learner at home!
  • We wrapped up our study of space! We learned quite a bit of information about the planets! Within our Patterns in the Sky unit, we have been studying day/night, seasons, solar and lunar eclipses, constellations, and phases of the moon. We have put a major focus on writing in complete sentences! Next week we will study Holidays around the World!
  • In writing, the students are in the rough draft stages of their persuasive paper to Santa. To learn about persuasive writing, I read the students 2 stories; I Wanna Iguana and I Wanna New Room. Ask your learner how the main character, Alex, uses the power of persuasion on his parents.

Hour of Code!!

This week we participated in the Hour of Code! Ask your learner what kind of coding he/she took part in.

Fluency Project

Mrs. Potaczek created a skilled based fluency project for our students to work on. I introduced it to the students today. Below is the link to the videos and games the students can use to practice their multiplication facts at home.

Thank you!!

Thank you to Mrs. Cassidy who came in and told us about her career. Mrs. Cassidy is a pilot. We learned quite a bit about the places she has traveled, life as a pilot, how fast an airplane can travel, and much, much more. She even brought in diagrams of a cockpit! Thank you, thank you!

Chase has a sister. Her favorite food is pomegranate, favorite color is mint, and her favorite subjects are math and science. She enjoys softball and playing outside. She hopes to someday travel the world! Chase read us a story that had us all laughing and led us in a cool science experiment. Great job, Chase!!
