Shanon's Cambodia Update
Happy Father's Day to all of the amazing dads out there! Today, I am reminded of just how many of the kids throughout Cambodia have lost their fathers. I thank God for the widowers and local staff that have stepped up to be father figures for the kids of FCOPI. These men are changing the lives of the kids by being positive role models and our young men and women are learning what a healthy, thriving family looks like. It is a testimony to God’s redemption and grace. These men were orphans themselves, never knowing the love of an earthly father until they came to FCOPI. The next generation is rising up to bring health and wholeness to all of our kids. I want to thank all of you that are fathers for the important job that you do. Happy Father’s Day!
As our church homes remain in lock down, we continue to see these young people learning to grow in their relationships. They are learning how to love God, love another, and love themselves. I am including a video of our Friday night prayer services that the FCOPI ministry made. Prayer is at the heart of all that we do. Each week we pray specifically for 5 items:
1- for God's safety, protection, and provision for the churches, pastors, and kids of Cambodia,
2- for our amazing donors around the world (YOU!) that help us to be the church by caring for orphans and widows,
3- for wisdom, blessing, protection over our FCOPI leadership,
4- for adequate rain and a fruitful harvest for our rice farm in Balang,
5- lastly we pray for healing for those that are sick both in Cambodia and around the world.
May you be blessed in this season. Thank you for making an eternal difference in Cambodia.
A Container of Hope
Community Outreach- Svay Rieng province
Our staff pediatrician Dr. Lina took emergency first aid kits, medicines, toothbrushes and toothpaste to each of the homes in the Svay Rieng province near the Vietnam border (in fact it is only 60 miles from Ho Chi Minh city- formerly known as Saigon). He taught the kids the proper way to brush their teeth and hand hygiene. One of our staff members, Makara worked with our local pastors and staff to install a recycled paint container to be used for water storage and developed a water filtration system. This home will now be able to provide safe, clean drinking water for the kids, church members, and surrounding community.
This church home has also been blessing the kids in the local village by having school sessions outside under a jackfruit tree so that they do not fall behind in their studies during school closures.
