Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Principal's Letter
Dear Prairie Point Families:
I enjoyed attending our Prairie Point Home and School meeting yesterday evening. I am very grateful for the support that our Home and School provide for our students, teachers and school community. One thing that I am very grateful for is being able to plan for and host a few of our traditional Home and School events. Last month our H&S hosted a Father Son Game Night and Panther Fitness Challenge. We are working on the details for our Halloween BINGO Night at the end of this month. While we are working to plan events that align with our district safety plans and health department recommendations, it is wonderful to have these school events this year.
I am also incredibly grateful for the generosity during the Annual SD308 Food Drive. Our students have had a lot of fun participating in this week’s spirit week and donating items to those in need throughout our community. The Food Drive will continue through next Wednesday.
One tradition that we celebrate throughout the month of October is Walk on Wednesday. This past Wednesday we celebrated National Walk to School Day and our first Walk on Wednesday. It was really fun to see so many students walking to school and celebrating this fun event. Mrs. Fahey and I had fun presenting the “Golden Shoe Award” to Mrs. Mayer’s 5th grade class, as they had the highest percentage of walkers. We will continue to celebrate Walk on Wednesday throughout the month. We will also be adding in a recess walking option for students who are unable to walk to school.
We are looking forward to a great week of learning next week. As a reminder, there is no school on Monday (10.11.21). We will be back in session on Tuesday ready to learn!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Groves
Principal

WOW!!!
Prairie Point Elementary celebrates International Walk to School Month in October by encouraging our students to Walk to School every Wednesday in October (W.O.W. – Walk on Wednesday). It was a little cloudy this morning, but we had a fabulous time, as well as a tremendous turnout for our celebration kick-off on the playground. We had 56.4% of our students Walking with Mrs. Mayer’s 5th grade class winning the Golden Shoe Award with 85.7% of her students walking. 2nd place goes to Mrs. Paluch’s 3rd grade class with 73.7% walking and 3rd place goes to Mrs. Van Dusen’s 4th grade class with 72.0% of students walking.
Congratulations to all our Students who walked to school!
