Back To School 2023-24
Save the Date - August 7 -9, 2023
We believe the learning of Social Studies is vitally important for students to understand who they are and how to best navigate their life as a confident, knowledgeable, civically engaged citizen.
Therefore, our goal is to equip all stakeholders with on-grade level curriculum that builds knowledge of history, geography, government, and society to ensure our students are critical thinkers and globally connected.
Next year will be our best year yet! As a premier district, we will educate our students for success!
We are looking forward to connecting with you during our Back to School training!

We the People: Civics that Empowers All Students
We the People is back!
Looking for engaging content on history and civics?
We have a program for you. Join us for the We the People: Civics that Empowers All Students (CEAS) project, which aims to improve civic education in upper elementary and middle school
grades by providing teachers with content and pedagogy through professional development and ongoing support.
Apply to join LRE the week of July 16-21 in Austin and immerse yourself in learning
about our Constitution. With the use of primary sources that focus on founding
documents, we will incorporate literacy strategies that align with our TEKS. You will
receive both content and pedagogy sessions throughout the week, and work with
colleagues to collaborate and share lessons and experiences.
All participants will experience the summative inquiry project by immersing themselves
in an engaging simulation: the Congressional Hearing. Teachers will walk away with all
lessons and materials, including a free class set of textbooks for the classroom. Travel
to Austin, hotel, and meals are included, and teachers that complete all program
requirements receive a $500 stipend.
You will become a part of an incredible professional learning community of colleagues
who are passionate about civics and empowering the next generation.
For more information and to apply, please fill out the application of interest. The
deadline is May 22, 2023.
