AESOP-Update from Human Resources

AESOP is the Gwinnett County Public Schools approved substitute placement system and is utilized district-wide to staff schools when eligible employees are absent.

Effective January 6, 2016 all schools are REQUIRED to enter absences for substitute eligible employees into AESOP. Employee positions eligible for substitute usage are:

- Teachers

- Paraprofessionals

- Custodians

- Clinic Workers

- Clerical positions

This process will ensure that substitutes are paid appropriately and will reduce last minute substitute cancellations. Please share this information with your substitute eligible staff and appropriate support office staff. All substitute employees will receive written and electronic notification of the above information.

Interim Part B Directions

In your box, you should have received 2 folders. One was your ELA Part B and will include: student answers, answer documents and the scoring rubric. You will also have the same information for Math in a separate folder.

Please score your students' Part B responses, utilizing the rubric, and fill in the answer documents with their score. These are due back to Sandi no later then January 13th (they must be scanned by January 15th).

Once you have completed the scoring, please return all contents in the folders back to Sandi.

Citizenship Awards Information

Please be prepared to enter citizenship names in shared spreadsheets when we get back for awards. This time it will be easier because you will only need to add or delete names, what you entered last time is still there.

BOE names new middle school in Duluth for former educator Brooks Coleman

Concluding its school naming process, the School Board voted unanimously to name a new middle school in the Duluth Cluster Coleman Middle School after longtime Duluth resident and former educator Dr. Brooks Coleman. The school, which will open in August of 2016, will have a STEAM focus, looking to transform student learning through the integration of science, technology, mathematics, and engineering with the arts to encourage deeper content knowledge and critical thinking skills. Dr. Coleman, who currently serves as a legislator for the area, served as a teacher and administrator at schools in the Duluth area before becoming an assistant superintendent for the district.
