"My time at OFSC was the two best years of my education. The welcoming and supportive environment created in the college allowed me to advance both in my studies and in other aspects of my life. I found all staff at college very enthusiastic, especially the history department, and knew that they were always there if I ever needed them. OSFC's range of subjects and opportunity to do AS levels drew me to the college, and I am very glad that I made that decision."

What can I study at OSFC?

We offer a wide variety of academic and vocational courses at OSFC. You will study a combination of up to 4 subjects. This can either be 4 A level subjects, a mixture of A level and BTEC subjects or a vocational course.

OSFC are also proud to be delivering T levels from September 2020.

How do I choose which courses I want to study?

It is important to think about choosing subjects you enjoy, subjects which will help you with your chosen career, or think about trying a new subject you haven't studied before.

You will receive plenty of help and guidance when choosing your subjects so don't panic. To get you started, click the images below to read more about subjects you may be interested in.

In September, you will be able to meet with your Careers Adviser at school to discuss your options. You can also speak with subject tutors at our Open Events in October, or contact us via email or live chat if you have any questions.

We have also put some handy worksheets on our website which may help you to start thinking about what you want to study. https://www.osfc.ac.uk/school-students/year-10/

What is a T level?

T levels are a new qualification which combine classroom based learning with practical work placements. You will spend your first year at OSFC learning the key skills for your subject, and then in your second year you will have a minimum 45 day placement with a key provider.

At OSFC, we are offering the Digital T level from September 2020, and will be offering T Levels in Health & Science from September 2021. We are pleased to be working with fantastic providers in the local area, such as The Sharp Project, Greater Manchester Police and the NHS.

What else can I do at OSFC?

As well as your subjects, we offer a wide variety of Xtras. These are great ways to boost your CV when applying for jobs or apprenticeships, and your Personal Statement for university applications. It is also a great way to meet new people and learn something new. Click below to find out more!

"At OSFC, one of the more enjoyable things is the freedom. You are given free time to get on with work at your own pace and make sure you understand everything you study in lessons. You have a wide range of study areas across the entire campus and it allows you to work alone, with friends or in silence to really focus. In some of my free time in college, I took up some Xtras. I did the EPQ, First Aid and became a Student Ambassador. They helped meet new people, and I was able to become a certified first aider while studying at college."

What is it like at OSFC?

OSFC is welcoming place, where students are supported throughout their time at the college. As well as your subject tutors, you will also have a Progress Tutor who you will meet with once a week. These sessions cover a wide variety of topics and aim to ensure you get the most from your time at OSFC and preparing you for your next steps. We also have a brilliant Additional Support Team at the college who you can meet with if you need.

"The support available has been outstanding. One thing I really like about OSFC is being on first name terms with my teachers - I have a much closer and more understanding relationship with my teachers than at secondary school, and have really got to know them. Not only is the pastoral support very strong in the Support Hub, but I feel like I could approach any of my subject teachers if I had an issue - I can't recommend the support here highly enough!"
