Your 5th grade teachers will be auctioning off a trip to The Pottery Place to the top 3 bidders :)
We will be leaving at 6:30AM Wednesday morning for LBL- students must ride the bus to LBL even if you are driving up. A reminder letter will be coming home next week, but make sure your child has a sack lunch and money if they want to buy snacks (this should be on them, not packed away). Watch the weather to pack appropriately.
BOX TOPS-- keep sending them in! We have a contest ending on October 15!!! Send them in a Baggie to your home room teacher with the number of box tops please!
We will not be sending a s'more newsletter next week since we will be gone Wednesday- Friday.
On October 12, we will have an afternoon half day (11:30- 3:00)
We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing, family- filled Fall Break!
MATH TEST ON TUESDAY (see math section for details)
Parts of speech quiz on Tuesday
NO SPELLING OR BIBLE TEST
ELA
Remember that if your child wants to retake a spelling test that I offered a retake on, they will need to do this on Monday or Tuesday. The end of the quarter is Friday (we of course will be gone to LBL)
AR- the goal for this quarter is 75,000 words. I will be printing a report to give at conferences (I will send it home Monday if you aren't coming in for a conference.) Your child is able to access their AR info on their iPads- have them read over this weekend to be ready to test next week. Their overall average will be a quiz grade. They will also get a quiz grade for meeting their goal.
Sci/SS
This week we continued our study as Spies of the Civil War. Our class booklets are being organized and assembled. Be looking for them next week! Mrs. Leyhew will be incorporating further study of the Civil War in ELA, after Fall Break.
Monday and Tuesday of next week, we will begin our Biology unit, just in time for LBL! After Fall Break we will continue this with LOTS of AWESOME activities!!! I will be in WA with the 8th Grade when we return from break; however, the learning fun will carry on with Mrs. Merritt. Be prepared to hear some gross stories of things we will be doing in this unit; I'm so excited!!!
