LEARWOOD GRANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
MOVement Challenge
What is the Youth MOVement Contest?
A fun, motivational contest to help combat youth obesity by encouraging Northeast Ohio school-age children to be more active.
The Movement Contest was sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic. We had to create a 1 minute video promoting our school to be chosen for the Movement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvRrm-npcjg). During the month of February, 30 students and staff members at Learwood were given Movbands and tracked their movement-all day, everyday. We competed against other schools throughout the Cleveland area. The kids did an awesome job!
Due to the hard work by all involved, with a special recognition to Mrs. Fleming, Mr. Burke, and Mrs. Walters, Learwood Middle School will receive $5,000 towards a school wellness program. Not only did we win our grade band, we had more steps than any other school. The money will be used towards Learwood's Physical Education department. It will allow us to purchase new equipment for our classes.

Fuel Up To Play 60
What is it?
The key to Fuel Up to Play 60’s success is having a strong student foundation, a team of committed educators and community engagement. Together we can continue to build a healthy, high-achieving generation of youth.
Thank you Mrs. Fleming for taking the lead to not only help Learwood win a $2,000 grant for our students, but also for your help with aiding other buildings in the district to also achieve this grant. You make us proud!
