Counselors' Corner

Being happy with what you have is a choice, and sometimes a difficult one! But as our kids are developing the ability to know the difference between need and want and cause and effect, this is the perfect time to spend time on practicing the Core Essential Value of November…CONTENTMENT. Contentment is learning to be okay with what you have.

Ask your student:

  • What does it feel like to be okay with what you have? How would you act, think and behave if you were content? How would you act, think and behave if you were NOT content?
  • Can you think of some people that you know who are content with what they have? Also, can you think of others who are discontented? How can you tell that they are contented or filled with discontent?

Notes from the front desk

Morning Car Riders

Parents of Pre-K – 5th grade car riders must enter the driveway on Longenbaugh for arrival and departure. Please form one line all the way around the circular drive, past the flagpole, pulling forward until signaled to stop. Please wait for the sound of the whistle to begin the unloading process. All parents, please make sure to remain in your vehicles as only students will exit the cars to ensure safe, efficient movement of the car rider line.

Car riders will be admitted by staff on duty at the side entrance to the front of the building. Staff will be available to provide your children appropriate assistance with getting to class, until they are able to do so independently.

Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:25 with the supervision of our staff. Leaving students without supervision before this time is not safe. If you arrive after the tardy bell at 8:40, you will need to park your car, and escort your child to the secured front vestibule entrance, where a staff member will assist you.

Absences

If your child is absent, please send a note on the first day of your child’s return to school stating the reason for the absence. Thank you.

Transportation Changes

If a child’s end-of-day transportation changes, the parent/guardian must send a note with the date, necessary changes and parent/guardian signature. If a note is not received, the usual method of transportation will be followed.

For safety purposes, no changes will be made after 3:45 P.M. and PHONE CALLS or E-MAILS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

*If your child is scheduled for after school activities such as tutoring, Girls on the Run, choir practice, etc., and they need to miss, parents are asked to provide a note for the change in dismissal. Otherwise, they will not be released.
