The Case of Benjamin Botten
The organelle being affected is the lysosome because this is the organelle that breaks down materials such a lipids and polysaccharides which is not happening in the man's body. The blood tests also show that an organelle from 0.5-1.5 macrons is missing which is the size range of lysosomes.I ruled out all of the other organelles because lysosomes are the only organelles that break down materials. Also The low acid levels in his blood are to blame for for the lysosomes not functioning because lysosomes don't function in low acid levels. The lysosomes in fact aren't present Based on this information because the enzymes that should be in the lysosomes are causing an acid build up in the bones meaning that the enzymes aren't being contained in one place. To Find this out I looked at the cell chart reading all of the functions to find out which function matched what the cell was lacking.
The Case of Olivia Kalie
The organelle being affected is the mitochondria because this is the organelle that gives the body energy. The high glucose levels in her blood are likely happening because the lack of cellular respiration which is when the mitochondira takes in glucose to make ATP in the body . The reason I ruled out all of the other organelles because the problem is that there is no cellular respiration happening and the mitochondria is the only organelle that deals with this directly. To Find this out I looked at the cell chart reading all of the functions to find out which function matched what the cell was lacking and I saw that mitochondria made ATP (energy).
The Case of Frank Rentz
The organelle being targeted is the Golgi complex because the cells are failing to secrete enzymes ( which are a protein) to the intestines. The organelle that was missing from is blood is about 2500 nanometers in width which is the approximate measure for the Golgi complex. The reason I ruled out the other organelles because the Golgi complex is the only organelle that both packages and transport enzymes to where they need to go outside of the cell. The Golgi complex is also responsible for making lysosomes that help break down food. The reason i ruled out all of the other organelles including the lysosomes was because the main problem wasn't that his body wasn't just suffering from digesting. His intestines weren't receiving these enzymes which was due to the cells lack of secreting enzymes.
The Case of Mary Streaver
The organelle most likely being targeted is the Smooth ER because this is the organelle that is responsible for making and metabolizing lipids and hormones. Which is the problem with her body because her cells aren't making enough myelin and there are to many fatty acids in her blood. I ruled out the other organelles because this is the only organelle that makes lipids and controls them. The acid levels are also off and this organelle isn't directly responsible however the smooth ER does make a material responsible for the control of acids. I used the process of elimination because I realized this was the only organelle responsible for fatty acid control.
Conclusion
Realistically there is no certain organelle that is more important the other because they are all dependent upon each other to reach a goal. without one of the organelles all of the other ones dependent on it will fail for example without the rough er the ribosomes won't be produced causing all protein synthesis to stop making the cell die. You see the cell was only missing one organelle but it affected other organelles. some may debate and say that the nucleus is the most important however without the other organelles there would be nothing to carry out the instructions given by other organelles. So in conclusion I don't feel like one organelle out ways the other.
