- 9:00am-4:00pm- Full Band
- 12:00-1:00pm- Lunch
Friday Football Game Itinerary – 8/23
Itinerary:
- 3:25 Rehearsal
- 5:30 Dinner in the CCA (provided)
- 6:00 Dress in Parade T-shirt, black shorts, tennis shoes
- 6:20 Dressed and ready to go in band room/Transit to Tailgate Town
- 6:30 Tailgate Town
- 6:50 Form tunnel for football team
- 7:00 Kickoff – GO ROYALS!!!
- ~8:30 Approximate time of Halftime performance
- ~10:00 Approximate time of dismissal after football game
Reminders:
- Follow Section Leader and Drum Major instructions.
- Uniforms – For this week, we are wearing our parade t-shirts, black shorts, and tennis shoes for the performance. (Guard is wearing all blacks. Girls must wear long/capri leggings. Boys may wear shorts. No spaghetti strapped tanks.)
- You will need your “Shorties” to play in the stands!

RCG Friday Dinner Before Football Game
For those new to RCG, the band boosters provide a meal for the students before they perform for home football games. The menu will be posted in the newsletter before each game. We can make accommodations for food allergies and vegetarians if we know in advance. Please understand that we cannot make changes based on individual preferences. Students are always welcome to bring their own food.

Fundraiser Updates
Thank you to all of those who participated in the 50/50 Fundraiser! We have raised $3,915 for students’ accounts and general band fund, way to go!
Even though the 50/50 Fundraiser has ended, anyone (family, friends, corporations) can make a tax-deducible donation to HSE HS Bands anytime during the year, please reach out to board@hsehsbands.com for further information.
A final total is in for the HSE Bands Car Wash as more donations rolled in last week. The car wash raised a total of $3,704.26! What a fun way to earn money for students’ accounts and the band! Also, there are still a lot of towels left behind, if you wish to retrieve yours, please contact Joann Kolesar at studentaccounts@hsehsbands.com. Please make sure you check with your student to determine if they brought their practice towel to the car wash and didn’t retrieve it. Any unclaimed towels will be donated to the band for future car washes.
From Student Accounts
Earlier this week, any money raised by students for selling car wash tickets was credited to their account; be sure to check your My Music Office account for updated balances. Any funds raised from the 50/50 Fundraiser will be credited to accounts during the upcoming week. After all of the credits are entered into My Music Office, an updated statement will be sent to all. Also, an email will go out to parents that contains a list all 50/50 Fundraiser donations received on behalf of your students for your records.
As a reminder, please make sure your student’s account is paid up-to-date. Payments can be made on the HSE HS Bands’ website or by check dropped off in the Locked Box in the band room. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to studentaccounts@hsehsbands.com.
First Annual Matt Spoonemore Memorial Blood Drive This Saturday!
On Saturday, August 24th, we will host the "First Annual Matt Spoonemore Memorial Blood Drive." Many of you knew Matt. For those of you who didn't, Matt was our beloved guard director who recently passed away after battling stage 4 cancer. Matt was an amazing director and person in so many ways. The Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot from 12-5pm. In addition to honoring Matt and donating blood, the blood drive is also a way to support HSE Bands. We will receive $5 per person for 25-50 donors and $10 per person for over 50 donors.
Please share the flyer below. It is an honor to remember Matt through this act of giving and share with the community this deeply missed colleague, friend, and mentor who meant so much to the HSE Bands Family.
RCG Competition Schedule
The following date is a change from the original calendar:
September 21st – Rehearsal 9am-4pm; Students will be able to attend HSE Homecoming that evening!
The following dates are competitions:
- September 28th – Contest at Fishers HS
- Oct. 5th – BOA Contest at Ball State University
- Oct. 12th – TBD
- Oct. 19th – ISSMA Regionals location TBD – PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS OVER FALL BREAK AND WE REHEARSE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, 10/17 AND 10/18 LEADING UP TO THIS VERY IMPORTANT STATE QUALIFYING COMPETITION!
- Oct. 25th – (Friday) We perform at BOA at Lucas Oil Stadium in the morning that day.
- Oct. 26th – (Saturday) We will rehearse during the day and either perform at or attend BOA Finals Saturday evening.
- Nov. 2nd – ISSMA Semi-State at Ben Davis HS
- Nov. 9th – ISSMA State Finals at Lucas Oil
Mattress Fundraiser September 7th! Please Share With Family and Friends!
The Mattress Fundraiser will take place in the HSE Band Room on Saturday, September 7th from 10:00am-5:00pm. This is always a great fundraiser because it requires very little work! No volunteers needed! The mattress company does all the work and we just provide the space and promote the sale! Please start advertising now by sharing the Facebook link below and/or giving the referral forms to friends, family, neighbors, etc. Your student can pick up the referral forms in the band room or you can print the PDF file below.
Ask friends and family to mention your student’s name or present the referral form his/her name on it when buying the mattress. For every mattress purchased based on your student's referral, $25 will go directly into his/her account! Also, the more mattresses purchased, the more the band will earn! Start spreading the word! Let’s make this a big one for our students and band!
Uniform Updates
Uniform fittings are complete! Thank you to all of the parents that helped to fit uniforms during parade camp week and during band camp week. Thanks for the patience in how long some of the fittings took. This is my first year at uniforms, and while there is a learning curve, I think I'm getting the hang of it all.
Shoes for new marchers and returning marchers that need new shoes are being ordered. Shoes are $45 and will be added to your student's band account. If your student is not on this list, they indicated that their shoes were still in good condition and fit. Please double check your marcher's shoes to see that they are not excessively worn, can still be polished nicely, and FIT!
If your student is on this list, and you DON'T need new shoes, please contact me by Tuesday. Otherwise the new shoes will be added to your account and will be available for your marcher this year.

We will not be wearing uniforms for our first football game, but instead will be wearing our parade shirts. Please make sure your student has their parade shirt. (For future notice, the parade shirts will be what they wear under the uniform.)

REMIND APP
As the band enters performance season, we would like parents to sign up for REMIND. This is one of the communication avenues that will be used when schedule changes need to be made.
For example, "The halftime performance has been cancelled due to rain."
The announcements will also be on Facebook, but we understand that not everyone uses this. Our hope is that REMIND will be more efficient.
REMIND now limits the number of members, so we have created separate accounts based on the grade of your student. We do ask that you do sign up for both grades if you have multiple students as sometimes there may be grade specific communication.

We Have a Dine to Donate Coordinator!
Thank you, Jenny Kraus, for volunteering to coordinate our monthly Dine to Donate events! These events are a not only a way to consistently add money to the general fund, but they are a great way to get out of the kitchen and spend some time with the RCG Family!
Our August Dine to Donate (August 26th) is just waiting for official confirmation from the manager. We will communicate on Facebook and via email with a flyer you can share ASAP!
