Fruit, it's Healthy Right?

Fruit is considered one of the healthiest foods you can eat right? That is what many people people think, but what people don't know is that fruit has high levels of sugar. So if you want to "diet" and eat fruits and vegetables, you are still not cutting out sugar from your diet.

Fruits are loaded with fiber and water. They also take a long time to digest, so the fructose (sugar) hits the liver slowly. Food that takes a long time to digest makes you feel fuller, so you will eat less of it, whereas with junk food, like chips and what not you don't feel as full so you eat more, causing you to intake more calories, carbs, and fats.

How Much Sugar Really Is In Fruit?

Fruit nowadays is grown to be sweeter and contain more sugar. Fruit grown in the wild such as a real wild berry contain less sugar, but in turn are not as sweet. Also, fruit grown today has many more harmful growth hormones.

- 1 apple has 23 grams of sugar.

- A can of coke has 52 grams of sugar.

-The American Heart Association recommends 36 grams of sugar per day for men, and 26 grams for women.

- 2 cups of sliced bananas is 36 grams of sugar. Which is already at or past the recommended amount.

- Fruits hold three times more calories than vegetables per serving.

How Much Fruit Is A 'Safe" Amount?

In all, practically all sugar is bad for your health if too much of it is consumed. People that eat to much fruit can have may problems, like dental decay, osteoporosis, wasting of muscle tissue, inability to maintain a healthy weight, chronic fatigue, skin problems, thinning hair, weakening nails, and excessive irritability. Fruit is healthy for you don't get me wrong, but too much is definitely a disadvantage to your health. It's simple, eat 2 cups of fruit a day but don't overdo it.
