What's Happening in the Furr Fold!
Another GREAT week filled with Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Problem Solving is upon us! I'm excited to hear and witness the wonderful things that our students will learn about, this week. Time appears to move faster and faster as the days and weeks go by. It's hard to believe that we are entering into the LAST week of January 2021. February will be here before you know it and it will be another month packed with activities. January brings with it College Week for our campus and February starts off with Hope Week, Valentines-Friendship Day and Stuff the Bus.
This week, Jan. 25th - 29th, we are celebrating College Week. Students will have the opportunity to dress up on these days:
Monday-Your Future is Bright-Wear bright or neon clothes!
Tuesday- College Day-Wear your favorite college gear!
Wednesday-College is no Sweat-Wear Sweatpants
Thursday-Dress for Success-Dress as your Favorite Career!
Friday-Spirit Day-Wear Prosper or Furr spirit wear!
(See the attached flyer below)
Valentines-Friendship Day (Feb. 11th) will be here before you know it! Students will be able to exchange cards at the end of our day. PTO is selling VALENTINE GRAMS so click here to get your Valentines Gram! We are promoting friendships and "BEING KIND!. Parents, we ask that you are mindful of any food products (candy) that is brought to school with these cards. We do have students who are allergic to certain foods and we want to protect every child, at all costs. All Valentines being exchanged will NEED to be brought to the teachers classroom no later than Feb 9th.
There is just 1 WEEK left to order your Furr YEARBOOK! The yearbook is a special way to remember our year at Furr Elementary, forever. The deadline to pre-order is January 29th.
(For more information, see the flyer below)
STUFF the BUS! During the week of Feb 8-11th, Furr Elem will be collecting Diapers(Size 6) and 32/48 oz bottles of cooking oil. Please drop all items off at the front foyer of Furr Elementary.
Parents, please remember to answer the 4 Health screener questions daily. If you answer yes to any of the questions, please submit the screener and wait for our Nurse to get in touch with you. The safety and health of all of our students and staff is vital to the success of educating our children.
Once again, thank you parents for your patience and grace. Please know that we are in this together as we educate our kids! Thank you for entrusting us with your children so that we can make the world a better place. It starts with us...BE KIND!
Respectfully,
Cindy Zukowski
Principal, Furr Elementary

5th Grade Parents: 1/29 is also your LAST CHANCE to create and pay for your child’s ad. You must have this completed by Friday, January 29th. Go to https://www.jostens.com/apps/jcom/router.mvc?affiliateId=2877726to create and purchase your ad!
NEW! Submit a portrait photo for the yearbook: We want to make sure that every student is included in the 2021 yearbook. If you missed picture day, you still can send us your photo to be featured in the portrait section. To submit your photo, click on the following link: https://images.jostens.com/415543977. HEALTH SCREENER.....Please look at this Daily!
Every morning before you send your child to school, please look over the Health Screener to make your decision of whether or not my child should come to school today. WE thank you for taking the time to answer these questions on a daily basis and...keeping our school community safe!
FACE COVERINGS:
FACE COVERINGS @FURRELEMENTARY
Face coverings are required for all adults, 4th graders and 5th graders at Furr Elementary. We highly encourage ALL students, Pre-K to 5th grade, to wear a mask. All masks, brought from home, need to follow the PISD dress code requirements. Parents, please pack a mask in your child's backpack where it is readily accessible in case your child needs one. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Here at Furr Elementary, we will continue to follow and implement all guidelines set forth by our governor, local authorities and our district. We continue to enforce face coverings, washing hands, using hand sanitizer and social distancing on a continual basis. Please check our district website, Covid Dashboard, for any and all updates from our district.
STAAR TESTING: (4th GR WRITING DATE HAS CHANGED!)
PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
PICKING UP YOUR CHILD DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
Parents that need to pick up their child from school during the school day should remain in their car and call the front desk @ 469-219-2280. School staff will then escort the child out to the car and verify identification before releasing the child.
Tardies:
LABELING ALL ITEMS:
LABELING ALL ITEMS: Parents, PLEASE label all items that are sent to school with your child's last name on it. I would rather return an item, back to our students, than for any item never to be reclaimed again. Your help with this would be appreciated.
BAD WEATHER:
Rainy Day Procedures:
Rainy Day Procedures For Furr Elementary:
1. If there is heavy rain and/or lightning at the time of dismissal, ALL walking students (including 2nd-5th graders) will be held in the students classroom until a parent picks up their student from the Gym Doors. This means you can still pick up like normal with your umbrella if you would like! At the time of the rain/lightning ending, we will allow 2nd-5th graders to walk home without supervision as they usually do. Any Kinder/1st grade students(unaccompanied) still in the building when the rain ends will be brought to the front office for a parent to pick up.
2. If a parent calls during rain at dismissal, we WILL take a transportation change (even after 1:30PM).
3. Walkers will NOT automatically be car riders. This will only happen if a transportation change comes in. If you want to be sure your child is picked up in a car, please call the office at 469-219-2280.
4. Parents, please make sure you have your transportation tag (family #). We will not release any student to an adult, without your transportation tag(family#) and an ID.
Remember, we will not let your student walk home alone in heavy rain/lightening. The safeguard is in place that if we don’t get a transportation change, the student can still be picked up from the Gym Doors by walking up with your transportation tag (family #).
Thank you for your help.
MORNING ARRIVAL:
MORNING ARRIVAL: DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD: We have 2 areas designed for dropping off your student safely, the front (A-L) car line and the back (M-Z) car line. Please DO NOT drop your child off at the bike racks. This is not a drop off zone. Thank you for your help in this area.
