Been Absent This Month?

We are missing statement of leave forms for this pay period. Please complete a Statement of Leave and turn it in to Mr. Satterwhite ASAP for any time out from February 1 to February 15. Thank you for ensuring your time (and pay) is processed accurately.

AP Testing Updates

On Monday, the DeKalb County Board of Education approved to pay for one Advanced Placement Exam for every DCSD student. With this vote, students on free and/or reduced lunch will have two free AP exams (one from DCSD, the other from GaDOE).

We have created a revised letter to assist families in registering for AP exams online. The deadline has been moved to March 6. Please assist us in sharing this information with students - the information will also be shared via e-newletters and website.

We have created a guide to navigate parents through the registration site. The most frequently asked question is: Should I pay upon registration? The answer is NO. Please direct parents to click on Pay Later. Mr. Alexander will then add the necessary fee waivers and will bill parents as necessary. The deadline for registering and paying is March 6.

IT Reminders - from Mr. Andrews

There is a a couple of factors that affect the performance of your workstation and also O drive, O drive will stop connecting when multiple users have been using one computer and also prevents important windows update.

SOLUTION: first shut down or restart the computer to make it clear out any multiple users, your computer will try to connect to O drive automatically when you login. If that doesn't work please put in a ticket.

Note: the O drive is the same as the OneDrive when you log onto Office 365.

Hospital Homebound Teachers

Druid Hills High currently has a critical need for Hospital Homebound Teachers for Spring 2017. We are required by state law to provide instructional support for students whose medical needs do not allow them to attend school. Please consider supporting these students - the pay is $30/hour and the hours are based on your and the student's schedule.

Please contact me if you are willing and able (or if you have questions). I thank you in advance.

Recent ICE Activity

Over the past weekend, there were a few national news stories regarding recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. Several reports indicated that raids may have taken place in parts of DeKalb County. The DeKalb County School District has been made aware of these reports and stands ready to support its' students, families and community as needed.

If reports of possible raid activity surface within our school community, or if you hear that students have been separated from their caretakers as a result of a raid, please notify an administrator immediately - please do not take it upon yourself to verify information. We will ensure the family receives the appropriate wraparound support services.

I realize that this type of activity can lead to generalized angst and fear among families and the community. Students may be worried about family members and what will happen to them. Our Counselors are able to respond immediately to students expressing feelings of fear, anger, confusion and anxiety - please make sure they have a pass.

As always, please contact the Main Office for assistance if a student's emotional state or comments necessitate the need for an escort to the Counseling Office.

Please remember to show empathy for impacted students and families during this time. Be careful, thoughtful, and ethical regarding commenting about students and raids. Please contact Ms. Cunningham with any questions.
