Jackson Newsletter
April
Dear Jackson Families,
Spring is here. Please remind your student to do their best each day, make positive choices, be kind, include others, and be their best self. We hope you and your family spend time outside together and enjoy the sunshine. April is also the time our students begin standardized assessments for the state and district.
Our 3-6 grade students will continue their state tests. NSCAS in math is scheduled for the week of April 4th. Fifth grade will also take NSCAS Science the week of April 11.
All students in grades K-6 will take the district MAP test. Students will take the English Language Arts and Math test. These scores will be used to determine if your child made their growth goals. We will compare the spring MAP sessions to the fall and winter. Please encourage your child to do their very best. Be sure they are on-time to school with a fully charged iPad and their charger. Students do better when they are well-rested and have nutritious breakfast. Your words of encouragement will help your students focus and do their best.
As we are preparing for next year. We are accepting donations of dry erase markers, disinfecting wipes, pencil pouches, and Amazon gift cards.
Health and safety is still our focus. Do not send your child to school if they are sick. Face coverings are now optional in OPS buildings. Please communicate with classroom teachers if they should encourage your child to continue to wear their face covering in school.
Be sure your student dresses for the weather. We go outside for recess everyday unless there is precipitation, high winds, or feels like 20 degrees or colder.
Please remember to follow our dismissal procedures. Do not pull into the bus-only area if the cones are reserving the south part of the bus lane.

- We recommend a COVID-19 vaccine and booster for all eligible individuals (upcoming clinic information is available here)
- Enhanced disinfecting procedures
- Making sure people who feel ill stay home
- Continued isolation guidelines following a COVID-19 diagnosis

Interested in Volunteering?
Please use link to complete the volunteer application:
https://omaha.tedk12.com/hire/ViewJob.aspx?JobID=9889
All adults who wish to volunteer on a school campus or chaperone day field trips, and district sponsored activity with students need to complete the application BEFORE volunteering with students or in the building. The required Volunteer Application allows the District and the schools to provide the appropriate level of clearance for school volunteers, protecting our students. Level 3 volunteering requires a background check. We ask that all volunteers are vaccinated and wear a mask in the building. Please contact Mrs. Hagen to let us know what level of volunteering you are requesting.
