Words of Inspiration

"Don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, you can't go wrong." —Ella Fitzgerald

Happy Summer

I hope you all are enjoying your summer, so far, and that you have been able to relax and take a break from the fast paced days of school. : )

The school will be closed from June 29-July 24, so please make sure to pay close attention to our Pat Neff Twitter and Remind pages (see below). This is where we'll be posting any updates/information before the school year starts. You can also check our Pat Neff website for information on the upcoming school year, like Summer Reading lists and important dates to know.

In the mean time, we hope your children are taking time to enjoy their summer, but we'd also like them to continue learning over the summer. There are plenty of opportunities to visit local museums (see schedule below), go to the public library, visit local bookstores, attend summer camps and stay fit through our SA Parks and Recreation. The main thing is ensuring your children aren't just watching t.v., playing video games, and/or spending time on social media all summer. We want them to exercise their brains, so they're ready for a new school year.

Talk to them about setting goals and helping them understand the importance of doing well in school. We want them here every day, and we want them learning. Sit down with them and have serious conversations about what they want to do when they graduate from high school. Believe it or not, middle school is the perfect time to start thinking about their future and who they want to be. They have to be accountable for their own learning, and they have to be willing to put forth the effort to be successful.

By now you should have also received your child's report card and STAAR scores...use these as starting points towards setting learning and personal goals. Does your child need to get better grades? Does he need to increase STAAR scores? Does she need to improve her attendance and timeliness to her classes? Think of ways you can partner with us, so we can help your children achieve their goals and make those connections here at school.

We can't wait to see everyone back here in August...stay safe, have fun, and keep learning!

Stay Inspired,

: ) Mrs. Correa
