Events!
Each year 2nd grade participates in a variety of events that enhance their education at the Early Learning Center. These experiences give the students opportunities to welcome their families into the school to be a part of their learning, engage with the community both in and outside of the school environment, celebrate milestones, and create lasting memories to make their time spent at AGCS one that they will always remember.
Summer Reading
There is often a great deal of variation in the reading levels of 1st graders moving into 2nd grade. Due to this fact, there is no set 2nd grade summer reading list. We do encourage you and your child to spend time reading each day (for at least 15 minutes)! If your child is not ready to read independently, read to your child, have your child read to you, or read aloud together. You can also purchase sight word and phonics flash cards that will help your child develop reading readiness. Plan trips to the local library for story-time events and book hunts. Read anything and everything your child is interested in; magazines, comic books, chapter books, picture books, cook books, and websites!
