Dear Families,
"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
- Agatha Christie
Of all the things I've done and accomplished in my life, there is nothing greater or more rewarding than being a Mom! There's also nothing harder. It might have been easier if my daughters came with a manual, especially a troubleshooting guide, but unless mine got lost in the mail or thrown away accidentally in the "packaging" I've simply had to wing it at times. Luckily I had a great model. My mother had five children; each with their own unique challenges and issues so I did have some clues. Tragically, my mother has stage four small cell carcinoma and we have only weeks left with her so this Mother's Day is especially poignant to me.
We may not tell our Moms often how much we love them. We may not tell them how much they mean to us. But we are truly blessed to have moms who love us, who care for us, who are concerned about us. Let us thank them for all their love, not just this Mother's Day, but as often as we can.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Math Works Math Modeling Challenge
MHS Math League Advanced to Second Round
MathWorks Math Modeling (M3) Challenge is a contest for high school juniors and seniors in the U.S. and sixth form students in England and Wales. Through participation, students experience what it’s like to work as a team to tackle a real-world problem under time and resource constraints, akin to those faced by professional mathematicians working in industry. The 2021 Problem was entitled: DEFEATING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE: INTERNET COSTS, NEEDS, AND OPTIMAL PLANNING. The problem asked students to use math modeling to provide solutions to combat the “digital divide” (the gap between those who benefit from adequate access to the internet and those who do not), a global reality magnified by the pandemic and our collective increased dependence on higher levels of bandwidth. This is the team of students that participated on MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge. Led by Mrs. Vitali, the team included:
Daniel Galvin
Ethan Dailey
Samuel Mulvey
Cassandra Newton
Abigail Wasielewski

Happy Teacher's Appreciation Week
We all know that behind every successful person is a good teacher (or five). And yet, educators barely get any props for making the world go round! So join me in saying THANK YOU to all of our amazing teachers! We hope they enjoyed all of the goodies this week and it seemed the smiles for the Ice Cream Truck Mr. Walsh and I arranged seemed to indicate they did!

B.R.I.G.H.T. - Building Relationships and Inspiring Growth and Hope Together
This program is a dynamic partnership between the Middlesex public school district and University Behavioral Healthcare (UBHC), a division of Rutgers University. The primary objective of the program is to help assure that children and adolescents will obtain needed assistance in an accessible location. They provide a range of free and confidential mental health services at the Middlesex Public Schools.
Referrals will be accepted from the student’s counselor, CST case manager, or school administrator. Teachers, school nurse and other staff members with concerns should contact the student’s counselor. Referrals may also be accepted directly from students and/or parents/guardians. The school counselor, CST member or administrator will meet with the student to discuss the referral and obtain informed parent/guardian consent concerning their interest in making a referral. They will also advise the school counselor that they are making the referral.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's counselor.
