Please help us support student health in talking to your students about the requirement to have masks on throughout the school day when in the building. A key point is that the masks do need to be covering the nose at all times.

OPEN House
- Wednesday, September 8th: Our K-2 teachers will have 2 presentations for families. The first will be at 7:00 and the second will be at 7:20. Teachers and the school will send Zoom links to families just prior to the event and there will be 5 minutes between sessions to allow families to sign out of one and into the second one.
- Wednesday, September 15th: Our 3-6 teachers will hold their Open House following the same format.

New Math Program
The Anchorage School District has adopted a new math curriculum for grades K-8.
i-Ready Classroom Mathematics (K–8) is a comprehensive mathematics program that helps students become strong, independent mathematical thinkers. Through a blend of purposeful print and digital components, the program makes mathematics accessible, increases student engagement, and builds confidence.

Speech Articulation for Boys and Girls
On that note.....
Early Intervention Services Center at 742-2657. With the last couple of years limiting our access to resources and opportunities for our children, this department will aid in answering questions, providing screenings and more. If you have a question, do reach out!
After School Cross Country Running
After school cross country running starts on Monday for our K-2 runners and on Tuesday for our 3-6 runners! Permission slips were sent home with all K-6 students last week and the deadline to enroll in the club ended on Thursday, August 26th. Thank you to all those who have signed up! We have 175 students signed up and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next week!
Important reminders:
· Water bottles
· Appropriate footwear
· Clothing: We will be outside for the majority of the practice, even in a light rain or cooler fall temperatures! Please make sure your child has a sweatshirt or light jacket just in case.
Participating in our after school cross country running program is a great way to get in shape for two big running events happening in late September.
· Jog-a-thon: Friday, September 24th (Hosted by our wonderful PTA)
· Southside Jamboree: Saturday, September, 25th (Hosted by ASD)

Bike to School Reminders!!
It’s GREAT to see so many Rabbit Creek students ride their bike to school this year!
Let’s talk bike safety:
1. Helmets are required!
2. Upon entering school grounds please WALK your bicycle directly to the bike racks. That means walk your bike up and down the paved hill leading away from school.
3. Know and obey the laws and safety rules for bicycle operation.
4. Never ride your bicycle on the fire station property.
5. Walk your bike down the hill leading to the school
6. Lock your bike to the bike rack.
7. Don’t touch anybody else's bike.
8. Bicycles may not be ridden on the playground/basketball courts/field for a half hour before and after school. Students must go home after school before returning to play on the playground.
9. Students who cross DeArmoun Road or the Old Seward Highway CAN NOT ride their bike to school as these are considered hazardous routes.

PTA Meetings 2021-22: Our monthly board meetings are open to everyone and generally occur the second Tuesday of each month. We have a lot coming up in the next few weeks so please join us if you are able. The next meeting will be the 2nd Tuesday, September 14th at 7pm in the Library!
Spirit Wear for Spirit Fridays can be ordered online at http://stores.blue84spirit.com/RABBITCREEK now through Sept. 19! There are some fun new designs as well as a new mask you should definitely check out! Please understand that orders won’t be arriving to the school until mid-November. We will notify you as soon as orders are ready for pick up. Thank you for your patience in advance.

Important Upcoming Dates: School Pictures are Tuesday, September 21st (stay tuned for volunteer needs). Our primary fundraiser, Jog-a-thon, is Friday, September 24th and this year's theme is “Seas the Day!” The event will take place during the school day and MANY volunteers will be needed! Stay tuned. Get these important dates on your calendar and we hope to see you soon at Rabbit Creek!
