Foster Grandparent Luncheon at MCIC on Friday May 2, 2014
Thank you for working together to make this a special day for our grandparents! It is expected that one staff member per classroom that had a grandparent attend. The lunch is from 11:00 to 1:00. I will call staff down to the multipurpose room when it is time to staff to join the lunch. Parking- I am requesting that staff park in the north lot, and in the back row of our parking lot first. Once we are all here in the am. I will see how many spots we have left. I may ask staff to park on the north or south loop after we unload buses.
School Improvement
The school improvement team will be meeting this week on Wednesday morning at 7:30 am. Mary Behm, Assistant Superintendent Office of Education and Learning will be here to talk about our School Improvement Plan and our AdvanceED due in mid-March.
Celebrate Michigan Week May 19-23!
Our school will celebrate our great state during this week. Please make sure to plan some activities in your classrooms and I am looking for volunteers to decorate the showcase! Please feel free to decorate your bulletin boards as well! I really enjoy all of the artwork and decorations that are on the boards and in your classrooms! It is nice to have such cheerful atmosphere around here! Social Studies Assessment: As written in student IEP's students that are 12, 15 and 17 are required to take a social studies assessment. During the Michigan week time frame we will be asking your students to participate in this assessment. Charlie will be meeting with and contacting those teachers that are to give the assessment. We are using the one created for MCIC- more information to come.
VSA arts festival
My thanks to the VSA committee, coordinators Hannah Wilcox, Carolyn Vierkorn, the artists and our wonderful team of volunteers. I appreciate teachers and ancillary staff being creative with schedules so that students have an opportunity to participate. We all have a creative side and we need to support our students to try new experiences.
Family Fun Night!
Thanks to all of you! Cherie Wager and I really enjoyed going through all of the activities, enjoying family and friends! We had 158 guests this year! Congrats to Jenny and Julie along with all of the committee for your hard work!
Parents bringing students to school
Parents are to report to the office when they bring in or pick up their children. Just as a reminder that visitors and guests must come through the front door by the office. They are not to go through any other door to drop off or pick up their children. If there is a problem or concern please see us in the office ASAP. We must be diligent in this matter-
