Please inform your students: We are encouraging students to dress up in business casual wear for our career fest. We will provide raffle tickets to first period teachers to hand out on Friday morning to any student who dressed up. You can check the flyer to show them what business professional attire looks like.

ART CHALLENGE QUESTION: How can we use white charcoal techniques to capture contrast, value and texture? How can we use a grid to draw proportionally to scale?

Last Thursday, a group of RMS students visited Alamosa Park Elementary to meet with their 5th grade students. Our students knocked it out of the park! They explained the different programs we offer at RMS, why they love it here, and provided opportunities for Alamosa's students to experience ABSS. The RMS team also visited Mission Meadows and Empresa on Monday.

We wanted to celebrate the conclusion of a successful series of roadshows to local Elementary schools by sharing some more pictures. Our 8th-grade student ambassadors did a stellar job sharing about the amazing programs, clubs, and events RMS has to offer, as well as performed and even did a couple of Artful Learning activities with the 5th graders. The 5th-grade audiences were SO excited and loved the interactive presentation!

We will start our workshops for parents for Spring. You may check the flyer for choose the one of your preference and use the QR code to register. We are planning to start the Tech. workshops on Tuesdays mornings, and on Thursday, the English class. If you prefer another workshop, please register for other workshops. Great news!! All riders 18 and under can continue riding transit for free through the SANDAG Youth Opportunity Pass pilot program through June 2024. The SANDAG Youth Opportunity Pass allows youth to ride MTS and NCTD buses, trollies, and trains for free with a Youth PRONTO app or a Youth PRONTO card.

In collaboration with the San Diego County Bike Coalition and the Sheriff’s Department, Vista Unified will be hosting Family Bike Education Nights on March 22nd and April 5th. Every school district in the state of California is required to develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to outline the actions and services that will support student academic, social, and behavioral achievement. We call our LCAP the Blueprint for Educational Excellence and Innovation. The LCAP must go through an annual revision process to ensure that students, parents, teachers, and staff members have the opportunity to provide feedback on the current actions and services and to make suggestions for additional actions and services that students need to reach their full potential as learners. Our Big Ask: We Need You!

This year, we are asking all of our families to partner with us in focusing on the wildly important: digital citizenship. Our goal is to equip our students with the skills they need to become thoughtful, empathetic digital citizens in an increasingly connected world. At our January 10th District Professional Development Day, all staff will engaged in a two-hour training in digital citizenship. In addition, all students will take part in digital citizenship lessons, including the Five Competencies of Digital Citizenship.

We need you! The deep work of digital citizenship will take all of our collective efforts to make an impact on the digital lives of our students.

I'd like to thank the commitment of our Technology Advisory Group, and the entire VUSD staff for engaging in this important work for our students.

The Boys and Girls Club of Oceanside will be coming to RMS daily before and after school to provide academic and enrichment opportunities to 6th grade students. If your student is not feeling well please keep them home and notify the Health Office. Please contact the Roosevelt Health Office with any questions or concerns.

Sixth Grade Parents: The Tdap vaccine is required for all students starting 7th grade. The Health Office will be sending out monthly notifications to all Sixth Grade families. Please provide proof of this vaccine to the Health Office. Please call with any questions or concerns.

Did you student lose their ID card? ID cards are needed to attend dances at RMS and students are to wear them when on campus. If your student lost their ID, they can purchase one in the office on Fridays before school for $6 cash or you can purchase it on the ASB webstore and pick it up in the office Friday before school.

All students are required to wear their Roosevelt ID cards everyday to school. Please remind your student to have their ID card on as they enter the campus.

Please keep your student home if they are feeling sick. Please contact the Health Office with any questions or concerns.

Parents and visitors, we have just received new equipment to register anyone coming into Roosevelt. You must have a valid ID in order to enter the campus.
