Amur tiger
Amur tiger- one of the smallest tiger subspecies, the most Northern tiger. Listed in the Red book of the International Union for conservation of nature and the Red book of the Russian Federation.
Distribution
The range of this tiger is concentrated in a protected area in the South-East of Russia, on coast of the rivers of Amur and Ussuri rivers in the Khabarovsk and Primorsky regions. Most of all Amur tigers are common in the foothills of the Sikhote-Alin in the Lazovsky district of Primorsky Krai, where the relatively small area lives every six wild Siberian tiger (2003). It is expected to resettle the Amur tigers at the site of Pleistocene Park in Yakutia.
Description
The Amur tiger is one of the largest subspecies, the coat is thicker than that of tigers living in warmer areas, and its color lighter. The main coat colour in winter — orange, belly white.
This is the only tiger subspecies whose members have the on his belly five-centimeter layer of fat that protects from the chilling winds at extremely low temperatures. The body is elongated, flexible, head rounded, rather short legs, long tail. The ears are very short, as it lives in cold country. The Amur tiger distinguish between colors. At night he sees five times better than people.
The body length of the males of the Amur tiger to the tip of the tail reaches 2,7--3.8 m, females are smaller. Height up to 1.15 m, weight 170-- 270 kg, in some cases up to 300 kg. a Normal adult male in nature weighs in the range of 180-- 220 kg, on average, about 200 kg, with a height at the withers-- 0.9 1.06 m. The largest Amur tiger, weighing in at 384 kg, (the weight currently is questionable, as provided from a secondary or other persons unconfirmed sources) had a body length 3.17 m, tail 1.14 M.

The number
Accounting conducted in all the habitat of this rare animal, showed that their number in Russia is stable and is 334-417 adult individuals and 97-112 cubs, or just about 500 individuals. These results allow the professionals working to preserve other subspecies of tiger that live in Asia to use the unique experience, which is used for the protection of the Amur tiger in Russia.
