ePathways Summer Professional Development Institute

Welcome innovators! We are delighted to invite you to attend our PD summer institute in preparation for teaching the iJourney or iConnect course during the 2015-16 school year. ePathways and the Department of Teaching and Learning guarantee an action-packed, exciting institute filled with important information and guest stars to help us all journey to success!


During the institute, participants will experience an in-depth look at the curriculum, hands-on experience with the course developers, and all of the guides and accounts you need to successfully implement this content next school year. Also, you will be equipped with many of the technology tools and resources you will need when teaching these courses. We have some surprises in store for you!


The institute will run the on the dates outlined below. Each institute is 3 days to maximize time for participants to be fully acquainted with material. There will also be hands-on extra work time provided if you choose to extend your learning. You may choose the week you wish to attend.

This PD Institute will run Monday-Wednesday June 8-10 with an optional planning day on Thursday, June 11. An additional optional planning day will be offered for all participants on Friday, August 7th.


There is the option of a 2-day crash course on August 3 & 4 for iJourney teachers and August 5&6 for iConnect teachers. Teachers choosing this option will get an abbreviated experience with less time for structured exploration of course content.

Institute Details

The institutes will be held by Nicholina Wilson from ePathways and Jesus DeLeon from DTL who have been writing and creating the course this year. Not only will they be there to support you, but members of the writing committee will be providing you with an in-depth walk through of the curriculum to enhance your success and answer questions during the training itself.


Here is an overview of what will be provided during the institute.


Rationale: Teachers will begin by gaining an understanding of why these courses have been developed as well as the requirements and needs they meet.

Blended Learning Pedagogy: Teachers will get an in-depth look at blended learning and its impact on student progress.

Mobile Learning: Teachers will experience the procedures and best practices of teaching with 1:1 laptops, the processes they should have in place, and the best ways to ensure student engagement and student’s on task.

Course Breakdown: Teachers will walk through both courses start to finish in order to delve deep into the content and flow. They will leave the institute with a clear understanding of what their next year will look like and how to use the resources, content, and assessments we have provided.

Teacher Guide: The teachers will gain access to their comprehensive teacher guide that accompanies each course. Included will be all lesson material, suggested pace, assessment lists, and more.

Account Setup: Teachers will be setting up all of their web tool accounts in order to complete the course content during the institute.

We will be gathering further information from participants to customize your professional development and will be manually inputting participants into PD place to receive points and stipends.
