Distance Learning Week 3, Volume 1
Week... 3???
I hope everyone is having a good long weekend, but also? It's okay if it's hard. Kids and adults are going to go through a large range of emotions during our time in quarantine. Know that it's normal and totally expected.
Here's to a short and sweet newsletter!
2 Week Round-Up
I had everyone check in with me EVERY day last week!! So huge kuddos to you parents on that one! I sent everyone an email on Friday letting you know what I didn't receive from students. The purpose was informational ONLY.
A few of you caught some mistakes I made in online assignments or not sending the right materials home, and ALL of you have been so kind and gracious towards me. I am truly so thankful and appreciate of that!
Onward and upwards from here!
Tuesday's Zoom
The purpose is simply for me to touch base with the kids. I do not plan on live teaching at all throughout this time, but am working up to recording me teaching instead of linking YouTube videos. It's so intimidating to record yourself!
We will check in and see how everyone is doing. We will talk about what life has been like in quarantine. Ms. Doreen and a few support staff will be on the call too.
I expect it to go no longer than 40 minutes.
On Tuesday morning a post will go live in Google Classroom. It will have a DIRECT link to the Zoom call as well as the password to enter. You can join Zoom from basically any device, but if it is a mobile device you will need to download the app.
When the kids sign on, it will put them into a "waiting room" where they will need to wait for me to admit them. This is a necessary security measure. If it gives you the option, make sure you put your child's name so I know who I'm admitting into the call.
Moving forward, I hope to do weekly Zoom calls and we will have a topic each time and I will let you know ahead of time what those will be. I am considering doing my 4th grade crew on their own call, but I'm open to feedback on that specifically from my 4th grade parents.
I'm SO excited to see and talk to the kids on Tuesday at 9:30!
Weekly Learning Plans
My goal is to always have them up on Sunday afternoons!
Feel free to print them or screen shot them, use them however meets your needs. Always go off the grids for assignments though because not all assignments will be found in Google Classroom for every grade.
