Manitou Springs Middle School
Week of March 16th & Week of March 23rd
Dear Manitou Springs Middle School Families,
If a student does not have access to internet, there will be hard copy materials available to be picked up at the SILC building to the south of the high school. This material pick up time will coincide with the lunch pick up time of 11:00-12:00 that is happening at the SILC as well.
We have added a “Remote Learning” page on the district website where we will be housing information regarding technical assistance and up to date plans which is linked below.

6th Grade Information:
The following is the schedule of virtual google hangouts for your 4 core classes. Each class has allotted an hour for direct instruction (via google hangout) combined with independent work time. Each student should start their class period by opening their announcement. In the announcement there will be a link to the google hangout, at that point they should join with the rest of the class. The actual direct instruction time will vary but will never be more than 30 minutes. After that, students are expected to engage in independent work. If questions arise, students are encouraged to reach out to their teachers via email.
**Students should identify which math class they are a part of, and plan on only attending that 1 math class.
8:15 - 9:15 Social Studies
9:15 - 10:15 Language Arts
10:15 - 11:15 Science

7th and 8th Grade Information:
7th and 8th grade students will be expected to follow their normal A/B schedule in terms of checking Canvas for daily assignments, announcements, etc… See the A/B schedule below.
3/17/20 B
3/18/20 A
3/19/20 B
3/20/20 A
If your child is unable to login to the specified Google Meeting (6th grade) or contribute to the daily assigned Canvas discussion (7th and 8th) please email the teacher and Jenny Guynn so they can make the necessary arrangements. We recognize the need for flexibility as families are working out their own schedules. To that end, students will have opportunities to access teacher videos and other supports to accommodate family needs. Please know that students are still responsible for completing daily assignments.
Thank you for all that you do for our amazing middle schoolers, and as always never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Eric McMartin, Interim MSMS Principal (emcmartin@mssd14.org)
