PowerSchool App for your iPhone or Personal Device
Please note that there are two different PowerSchool apps available in itunes App store. You will want to choose the WHITE background app. Please note the difference below.
Headsets
Like any instructional tool the more time we teach students proper care the better they are to rise to those expectations. We are always reviewing and looking for the best solutions to increase headphone longevity. We have researched and tested hundreds of headsets for durability and cost. Even the highest priced and most durable are coming back broken. If you have any solutions that work well in your classroom, please share them with us!

Google Options ~ Research!
Did you know your students have options to Google for conducting research!
All of our students have an amazing app called Destiny Discover.
It looks like the below icon:
It provides students with all the vetted resources that we have on any given subject.
These vetted resources include all of the following:
- School Library Books in your own school library!
- Britannica Online
- World Book Online
- ProQuest
- Info Bits
- MyOn Digital Books
- Open Educational Resources
Remember before conducting any student empowered research, have your student formulate their own questions before searching and researching.
Obviously not every topic area of interest to our students will be found within Destiny Discover, but it is a great place to start!
If you do need to use Google keep in mind the age appropriateness of the search and get to know the Google Search Operators. You can find more about how to equip your students with research and design skill at our district Research and Design Power School resource page.

New Hires! Welcome!
Rachel Tomechak
Please join us in welcoming Rachel Tomechak as the new Instructional Materials Technician within the Educational Services department. Rachel began her career in education as a teacher and has over 16 years of experience in the classroom and at school sites. She joined the EUSD team in 2016 as Account Technician in the ASPIRE program and we are thrilled to have Rachel return this month to bring her wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to this new position.
Christine Andrade
The Business Services department is delighted to welcome Christine Andrade who will be starting as the Publications/Warehouse Specialist at the District Office on April 1, 2019. Christine has worked as Safety Monitor/Noon Supervisor at Paul Ecke Central and as a classified substitute in many areas within our district over the past few years. She brings a great deal of knowledge and experience with her. Christine is replacing Michael Carriker who retired from this position in October 2018. We wish Michael well and are excited to have Christine join the Business Services team.
Math Committee Update
Our Math Committee is in the midst of the first of two pilots. All teachers in the pilot are using i-Ready and Ready Common Core materials for the first 4 weeks. On March 26th, teachers will begin piloting Pearson’s Investigations and CMP3 (6th). Both programs are comprehensive and have both print and digital components. Teachers are receiving training, using all of the features of each program and are completing weekly reflections about the impact on learning and ease of use for teachers. We encourage you to check in with your site’s pilot teachers to learn more about resources. We really appreciate the time, dedication and expertise of the Math Committee. They are so invested and focused on this work! We know they are considering the needs of all of you in this process.
Farm Lab Update
Farming Updates:
- The Ecology Center manages our on-site farming, and they are building the north side of the property into a community educational space. Read more about their plans at Farm Lab here!
- Our main growing fields were recently stripped of matter and planted with cover crop to enhance the soil for the next growing season. By summer of 2019, the fields will be in production again. In the interim, The Ecology Center is providing our sites with weekly organic lettuce and produce from their organic farm in San Juan Capistrano. What an amazing partnership!
- A 160-tree food forest is being planted to meet all of the district’s avocado, citrus, and stone fruit needs. Link your video?
Want to Green Up?
