Dear parents, guardians, and students,
Two more weeks...Back to school will be here before we know it! We are busy on campus getting ready to welcome students back for the 2021-2022 school year and we are excited about all the things this year will bring.
Over the next two weeks, we will be sending home information about the return to school- please make sure that you check your email, our social media and our website as we start publishing updates.

Important information for students entering 7th grade
Please make sure that your shot records are up to date and that your student has had their TDAP shot.

Parents: Senior pictures are NOT done at school on picture day- you must schedule an appointment at the Lifetouch Studios.

Senior Night
Senior Night is back! Please save the date for Thursday, August 5 at 6pm.
It is important for you to attend this evening as we will be reviewing all critical items regarding the Senior year. Students are required to have a parent/guardian present.
Also, ALL Seniors and their parents are required to attend the first Grad Coach meeting of the year. You may do so in person or virtually on August the 5th from 1pm until 5:30pm. Sign ups will be going out soon.

Class of 2025 Parent Night
Please join us at our Freshman Parent Night on Thursday, August 12 at 6pm. We will be sharing information about the transition to high school, high school expectations, and much more!
Welcome to middle school Class of 2028!
On Thursday, August 5th, from 9am until 12pm, we will be hosting our first annual 6th grade orientation!
This will consist of a series of workshops for our incoming 6th grade students led by our faculty and upperclassmen to help make the transition to middle school easier.
Parents may drop off students in front of the gym starting at 8:30am and pick them back up at 12pm.
Parents may join our opening ceremony and then attend a parent Q&A session, but the workshops are designed for the students.

Middle school uniform: royal blue polo shirt
High school uniform: black polo shirt
Polo shirts must be worn at all times, including under jackets and sweatshirts!!!
Approved school bottoms:
- khaki, black or navy blue pants
- khaki, black, or navy blue shorts (to the knee)
- khaki, black, or navy blue skorts/skirts (to the knee)
Athletic pants, joggers, jeans and leggings are NOT permitted.
An updated parent/student handbook will be published this summer.
If you wish to donate your student's old uniform for students in need, you can drop them off in the front office- and thank you!
What you need to know
A: Yes!!!! Polo shirts are a required part of the uniform. You must wear your polo shirt every day regardless of whether or not you have a sweatshirt
Q: I can wear any bottoms as long as they are the correct color, right?
A: No- you must wear approved bottoms. These are: Long khaki style pants, Bermuda shorts, shorts or skirts the length of bermuda shorts (no minis). You may NOT wear leggings, jeans, athletic pants or joggers, sweatpants, jeggings

Q: I get cold easily...I can bring any hoodie or sweatshirt, right?
A: No. All outerwear must be San Jose Prep uniform gear purchased at the uniform store.

Once you have created the account, please allow 48 hours for activation.

Download the ParentSquare app!
Make sure that you have downloaded the ParentSquare app so you can stay up to date with what is happening at school.
You can set it up to be in any language and you can get the school calendar of events, app notifications, notifications from teachers, and more!
It is free on the app store for both Apple and Android.
Student parking passes
In order to be approved for an on campus parking pass, students must:
- complete parking pass application
- bring a copy of their driver's license
- provide proof of insurance
- be approved by administration
- pay the required fee
Parking on campus without an approved parking pass may result in your car being towed at your expense.
Students with discipline, attendance and/or academic issues may have their parking privileges suspended/revoked.
Student schedules
There have been districtwide issues with Focus and it is currently displaying erroneous information on schedules, school of student, etc... Please know that DCPS is working on this and all students' Focus information will be restored soon.
San Jose Prep student schedules will be released at student orientations.
If your student is not able to make it to their assigned orientation, schedules will be published to the Focus portal after the orientations take place.

Orientations
Orientations are an opportunity to pick up a copy of your schedule and see where your classrooms are.
6th grade: August 5th from 9am-12pm (see information above)
7th-10th grades: August 6th
Students with last names A-G 10:00 am-10:30
Students with last names H-N 10:45-11:15
Students with last names O-Z 11:20-12:10
11th grade: August 6th from 9am-10am. Please meet in the cafeteria for a presentation
12th grade: Senior Night (see information above)
If you are not able to make it to orientation, schedules will be posted to Focus on August 6.
School supplies
Teachers will have supply lists ready at student orientations and students will have the first couple weeks of school to get their school supplies.
Some supplies that are generally used in all classes:

- binders
- folders
- pens
- pencils, erasers
