Where Scholars Soar to Excellence
From the Desk of Principal Woods-Wallace
Happy Holidays Middlebury Families,
I hope you have had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving break! As we move to finish up the 2nd half of quarter 2, there are a few updates that you need to be aware of. First, as a reminder, Monday, November 30th will be our first day of 100% remote instruction. Thus, the school building will be closed and remain closed until Monday, January 11, 2020. Upon that time, we will evaluate the COVID-19 levels in our county to determine if it is a safe choice to return our scholars' and staff to the hybrid instructional format.
Secondly, during this time of remote learning, we are providing our scholars with meal kits that will include their breakfast and lunch for the entire week. Meal kits can be picked up at the school on Mondays between the hours of 10 am - 2 pm. If you need an alternate time, give the office a call at 330.752.2766 and we will make arrangements for you.
Next, scholars' who have the older Chromebooks will be scheduled to switch out their devices for new Chromebooks. Scholars will be contacted by their teachers and or the school regarding the day and time they should come and pick-up their new devices. Also, we are requiring our scholars to return BOTH the Chromebook and charger in order to receive new equipment.
After the identified scholars have received new Chromebooks, we will switch our learning management system from Google Meet / Zoom to Blackboard exclusively. Our hope is to move 100% to this platform by Monday, December 14, 2020.
There are many moving pieces to our instructional program, however, our scholars remain the center of our focus. With that being said, we are constantly working to ensure that their comprehensive needs are met. This includes, but is not limited to their, academics, physical, therapeutic, and emotional needs. These services will continue to be rendered to our scholars virtually.
As we all adjust to our global circumstances, please have confidence in knowing that we CAN make a difference this school year. This task WILL be achieved by the collective efforts of home and school working together for the common advancement of our scholars!
Remain safe and have a productive week!
Ms. Woods-Wallace, M.Ed.
