This week for Breakfast & Lunch

Please note the message below from NC DPI concerning the impact of the national food shortage on cafeteria menu.

“Due to the unavailability of certain items, menus are subject to change without notice. Food and supply shortages are being experienced nationwide. Our district is experiencing last minute notice of unavailable items and/or last minute replacements. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We look forward to serving free breakfast and lunch to all of our students during the 2021-2022 school year.”

Take the PSAT at Northern!

Any 11th grader at Northern is welcome to take the PSAT during the fall administration on October 13th. The first 10% of the class to sign up will be able to test for FREE. After that, the cost is $18.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) measures what students learn in school, determines if students are on track for college success, and opens doors for opportunities to prepare and pay for college.

The PSAT will be given at Northern as an in-person exam, starting at 9am and going through 12:30pm. That is also an Early Release day, so students will miss a day of class. By agreeing to test, you also agree to make up any work that was missed on test day.

The signup for the test was emailed to all 11th grade students Wednesday and will close Monday, 9/13. The email went to their school email account.

Parents, please make sure you are signed up for Parent Portal, no paper report cards will be sent home this year. Get started here.

The Museum of Life & Science has a paid, part-time job opening for a student 16+. Students may learn more and apply on Oppti. Deadline is September 21. Please direct questions to the contact listed on the Oppti posting.

The Museum is looking for an interested individual that can assist in the care of our outdoor exhibits while also enriching their interests in exhibit design and maintenance, landscape architecture, ecology and science education. Although this is primarily an exhibits maintenance position, the candidate will have opportunities to engage with staff and guests and learn about the museum's multifaceted approach to hands on learning.
