Take the PSAT at Northern!

Any 11th grader at Northern is welcome to take the PSAT during the fall administration on October 13th. The first 10% of the class to sign up will be able to test for FREE. After that, the cost is $18.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) measures what students learn in school, determines if students are on track for college success, and opens doors for opportunities to prepare and pay for college.

The PSAT will be given at Northern as an in-person exam, starting at 9am and going through 12:30pm. That is also an Early Release day, so students will miss a day of class. By agreeing to test, you also agree to make up any work that was missed on test day.

The signup for the test was emailed to all 11th grade students Wednesday and will close Monday, 9/13. The email went to their school email account.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Are you interested in taking a practice test for the SAT or ACT? - StudyPoint is offering FREE practice test events, and since they do so virtually, you can take the practice test from your home. Students who participate will also receive a free score analysis that breaks down how you did by section, question type, and content area so you can get a sense of where you might want to do some review prior to the real thing.

They run multiple practice tests each week. If you're interested you can view available dates and register for a test at https://site.studypoint.com/virtual-practice-tests.

The Museum of Life & Science has a paid, part-time job opening for a student 16+. Students may learn more and apply on Oppti. Deadline is September 21. Please direct questions to the contact listed on the Oppti posting.

The Museum is looking for an interested individual that can assist in the care of our outdoor exhibits while also enriching their interests in exhibit design and maintenance, landscape architecture, ecology and science education. Although this is primarily an exhibits maintenance position, the candidate will have opportunities to engage with staff and guests and learn about the museum's multifaceted approach to hands on learning. The ideal candidate will enjoy working outdoors, be able to work well with a team but also self perform, and be accepting in an inclusive employee environment.
