A Note from the Principal

Dear SPB Families,

Welcome back! I hope that you all had time to refresh, recharge, and relax during Easter break. Our students are back in the swing of things and ready to finish the school year off strong!

As the end of the year approaches, we head into May very soon and prepare for some of our most treasured events as a Catholic school, including the celebration of two important sacraments. Our eighth graders will soon celebrate their Confirmation as they become adult members of the Catholic Church on April 30, and our second graders are anxiously awaiting their First Communion on May 7 followed by May Crowning on May 10. The eighth graders are also eagerly awaiting their graduation on June 1, and they look forward to passing on the light of leadership to our current seventh graders at the Pass It On Mass on the last day of school. We have so many wonderful celebrations in the weeks to come, and it will be so special to have these events open to all who want to share in the joy!

We pray for all of our students and teachers as we enter into this final stretch of the year. We have much to be grateful for, and I am so excited to celebrate our Green Knights!

Peace and blessings,

Diane Raguz, Principal

MAP Testing-April 24-May 12

From April 24 to May 12, students in grades K through 8 will complete the third and final MAP® Growth test from NWEA®. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Math (K-8), Reading (K-8), and Language (3-8). There is no preparation for these assessments besides making sure your child has plenty of rest and a good breakfast throughout the testing period of April 24 to May 12. As in the past, following the testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth throughout this school year.

New Altar Server Training

Training of new altar servers began on Tuesday, April 18, 2:30 pm in church. Also on April 25 (student led with parents), May 2, 9 & 16. Installation of new servers is during Spring Fling Mass, Sunday, May 21, 10:30 am. Contact Kathryn Mailer to register: katmailer416@gmail.com

Playground Volunteers Needed-Kindergarten to Grade 2

We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:10 am-12:55 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!

Grade 1 families are asked to volunteer in April, and Kindergarten and anyone who would like to help in May/June.

This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.

Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.

Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 1, Kindergarten
