Ott's Outlook

May 2020

May is typically a very busy and exciting time in the school district as we celebrate student achievements and milestones. This May is no exception as our staff across the district are planning virtual ceremonies and drive-thru celebrations to honor our students. The formats are obviously different than what we are accustomed to, but the magnitude of the celebrations are just as valuable. Our staff and students have had an incredible school year filled with many accomplishments and reasons to celebrate!

Some will choose to remember the 2019-2020 school year for this pandemic, however, in my mind it will be the year that so many of our students and staff members demonstrated patience, resilience and grit. Despite the surrounding conditions, our students learned how to read, recite multiplication tables, analyze literature, solve advanced algebraic equations, play an instrument, compete in athletics, and so much more. For all of these accomplishments, I commend our students and their families for a job well done! To our staff who have made these milestones possible, I thank you for your continued commitment. To our community who have supported our district in countless ways, I am eternally grateful.

Texas public schools have benefited tremendously from the generous support of businesses and organizations in their community. Whether they choose to champion the marching band, a CTE class, a whole school, or the entire district, local businesses and community groups are vitally important to the success of our students.

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) understands the value of these partnerships and has a recognition program to recognize local business and organization support of public schools. We are please to announce that Grande Communications has been selected to TASB's state-wide Business Recognition Program for their support of and partnership with the district.

We announced this award during our virtual April Board meeting but plan to recognize them in person when our board meetings return to the Administration Building. In the meantime, please join us in thanking Grande for supporting Temple ISD!
