School Closure Update
March 17, 2020
Thank you for the patience and understanding that you have provided our staff and district as we navigate this unprecedented time. While we were prepared and ready for such a situation, the gravity of it all does not fully sink in until it all becomes a reality.
I must give our entire staff some Lancer Love as they made this transition much smoother than what other districts experienced or are experiencing. There was an odd sense of calm throughout LMS last Friday despite the news of closing just mere hours earlier. That is a testament to the planning that went on prior to the Governor's announcement and the way staff got to work first thing Friday morning finalizing plans and getting items prepared for students to take home.
I will continue to share information with you as it becomes available. If you have questions, please, do not hesitate to reach out. I wish you all good health during this time. We will get through this and I look forward to playing some jams and greeting students as they enter LMS again soon.
Sincerely,
Mr. Swegles

Students are encouraged to engage with the work that is provided to them to keep their learning up to date and ongoing.
Should a student have questions regarding the work, teachers are available for questions via Google Classroom or school email. Every effort will be made to respond to questions during the working day. Communications sent after the “school day” can expect an answer the following day.
Availability of LMS Administration
Mr. Swegles and Ms. Arend will be available as needed.
We are in the office this week (March 16-20)
The weeks of March 23 and March 30 we will be working remotely
PowerSchool
From Mr. Freeman: “Remote Learning Opportunities are provided for students to support skill development during the school closure, and we don’t want the lack of direct face-to-face contact of a classroom teacher to impact grades and grade point averages. With this in mind, we have made the decision to shut down parent and student access to the online gradebook (Powerschool) to avoid the anxiety that might come with trying to track progress as we work through the shutdown.”
