Soyons Joyeux!
Dear Charlemagne Families,
We are getting closer to the first day of school! Teachers and staff are working hard attending trainings, preparing lessons and making sure the classrooms and hallways are joyful, clean spaces for our children to learn.
Kinder NIght 8/30/23
Kinder parents, please join us for our annual Kinder Night that will take place Wednesday, August 30th, from 5-6 pm. We will begin exploring the magic of Kindergarten in the cafeteria with Mme Elise and Mme Amey. Childcare will be available in the gym. Following the meeting, we will move outside to discuss drop off and pick up protocols for our school. We can't wait to meet with all of you!
Meet the Teacher Night 9/5/23
Our annual Meet the Teacher Watermelon Community Event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th, from 3-4 pm. Families will have a chance to walk to their classrooms from 3-3:30 pm and then follow up with a slice of watermelon outside at the playground from 3:30-4 pm.
Smart Start 9/6/23
For Kinders only. Please see the Smart Start Schedule for more information in regard to staggered days based on last name (A-L and M-Z).
First Day of School 9/7/23
Welcome back grades 1-5! We are so excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year and looking forward to sharing lots of laughter and joyful learning experiences with all of you. Please note that Wednesdays will be our Early Release Day , dismissal at 1:45pm. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday will release at 3 pm.)
Free Meals at School
Where all meals will continue to be free for all students this school year, we are still needing all of the families to fill out the application. Doing so helps our department receive funding and also helps the students and families receive other public benefits. Approved applications will save the district's operating budget as much as $815 per student this year, money that can be used to further educate and support students. Fill out the application here.

Welcome Back!
Kindergarten Smart Start
Staggered start of school year helps set up kinders for success this year and beyond
We’re excited to welcome your child to the start of school through a new program called Kindergarten Smart Start. We have re-designed the first eight days of school for our youngest students to help set them up for success this year and beyond. Print Smart Start calendar
Providing a staggered start allows for smaller classes and time to connect with families, giving teachers the opportunity to understand your child’s unique strengths as well as their academic and social needs from the very beginning. Kindergarten Smart Start will help ensure a successful and personalized introduction to school for each student and a smoother start for all students.
Early Release on WEDNESDAYS. Charlemagne will Release at 1:45 p.m. every Wednesday
All 4J schools will release early on Wednesdays instead of Fridays starting this fall to support collaboration among our educators.
Early-release days on Wednesdays will best support the new schedule that 4J high schools will follow starting this fall. In addition, comments from educators indicated that dedicated time for professional development and collaboration is more impactful during the middle of the workweek rather than at its end. Early-release times will remain unchanged.
Understanding the importance to families of having consistent school schedules, the change to a Wednesday early-release day will apply to all schools.
2023–24 School Supply Lists
Elementary Schools: Standard supplies, such as pencils, crayons, glue and scissors, will again be provided at no cost to all elementary students. Some schools may suggest to families that their students bring a personal backpack and water bottle. The schools also provide each elementary student an iPad to use for the year.
