5th grade awards assembly will be Wednesday, May 29th at 1:00 in the cafe. There will be a small reception after, with refreshments for the 5th graders and their families. We are asking that all the students please dress nice for the awards assembly, no athletic shorts. They are welcome to bring their nice clothes to school and change before the assembly.
We look forward to seeing all of you there to help us celebrate these wonderful kids!

Our Week Coming Up At A Glance:
Writing:
- No more spelling quizzes! We SURVIVED!
- The students will be writing Dr. Seuss inspired stories, using a limited amount of words. This will be fun but challenging.
Reading:
- We will continue to work on summarizing using GIST and checking our comprehension by using Author’s Portrait.
- We will continue to practice our choral reading. This is a great way to help with fluency. We read a paragraph together out loud as a class at a pace that I set. The more we practice this, the faster we will get and the more fluent we will become.
- Your child should continue reading or be read to nightly for 30 minutes and then getting their reading log initialed.
- We will continue reading, Number the Stars, as we prepare to lightly touch on the Holocaust.
- We will continue talking about Henry Clay, The Missouri Compromise and the events that led to the Civil War, and also begin covering the Civil War.

From The Seele Office:
5/13 – 5/15 -Due to schedule changes we will be a closed campus at all grade level. All lunches need to be brought to school in the morning. Please do not drop off lunches on these days. Thank you for helping us by keeping these testing days as low key as possible 5/13 – 5/15.
From the School Nurse:
