About the Presentation:
This workshop is designed for professionals, paraprofessionals, and family members who already have extensive knowledge of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). This workshop will provide an overview of recent research about the overlap of ASD with other disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, nonverbal learning disability, anxiety, and mood disorders. The bulk of the presentation will focus on evidence-based approaches to the complex profiles of individuals with “autism plus ___.”
Outcomes:
As a result of attending, participants will:
- Identify and describe the co-existing conditions that are most common in children and adolescents with diagnoses of autism spectrum disorders.
- Describe a systematic approach to understanding the cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral challenges of individuals with co-existing disorders.
- Identify evidence-based educational, psychosocial, and behavioral interventions for co-existing challenges.
