CPR Training
He also took some time to speak to our students about possible Career opportunities in the Medical field, as well as grant opportunities that the state of Texas offers students to complete their training and certifications.
3rd-5th Grade Year-End Projects & Presentations
Each student also got to choose their own topics for a year-end research project. Some students chose their favorite animal while others chose a celebrity or other topic of interest. During the last week of school, the students presented their projects to the K-2 students and the Facility Staff members who were available to visit our classrooms.
Middle School Science & Mathematics
First, we took a "Road Trip" across the country. After mapping our trip, we calculated how many minutes and seconds of music and movies we had loaded on our devices. We also calculated mileage, our expenses at hotels, and how much money we spent on snacks.
Second, we created our very own Animal/Creature. After determining certain characteristics our creature would have, we tested our art skills and drew our creation. After our creature mated with another creature, we mapped all the genomes and determined what primary and secondary traits were passed down to offspring. Then, we even got to draw all the children!
Finally, we designed and mapped out our own theme park. Given some basic parameters, we got to determine which rides and features we would have, as well as ticket booths and concession stands. We then calculated how much concrete and fencing we would need and how much all of that would cost. To finish it off, the students created brochures to advertise their parks!
