February 2022 Update

It's February Already?!

Hello Lanesville Families!

WOW! Can you believe that it is already February?! Before we know it the end of the school year will be here. Even with as crazy as this year has been, the time sure seems to be flying by. We would like to thank you all for your continued help and support of all of the guidelines we are following here at school. We understand that a normal year can be difficult, and this is definitely not a normal year! We appreciate your help with all of the changes we have had to maneuver. We couldn't do this without the support of our amazing families!

Guest Artist Robin McBride Scott

The week of January 10th guest artist Robin McBride Scott visited Lanesville Elementary. Ms. Scott presented two workshops to our students. Our 5th & 6th grader students created Native American Effigy Pottery in the shapes of birds using pottery and paint. Our 3rd & 4th grade students were able to experience the Metal Embossing process. Using shaped tools they were able to create unique relief images, which were different on the back of their copper plated sheet then on the front. This is the similar process the copper sheathing of the Statue of Liberty was created. Fun was had by all!

These workshops were funded by our Indiana Arts Commission grant which is generously matched by the Harrison County Community Foundation.
