Who is the audience?

The audience is the American Public.

What is the point?

The point is to convey the harsh reality behind the American economy and where the nations income is distributed.

Thesis- While many of the old centers of inequality in Latin America such as Brazil, have been striving in recent years, rather successfully, to improve the plight of the poor and reduce gaps in income, America has aloud inequality to grow.

How do you know?

We know this because the author lists statistics and facts about the exact percent of the nations income being distributed to the 1 percent of privileged Americans.

How do they use the Toulmin Method?

Claim- Opens the essay with a strong thesis stating the issue in the drastic gap in income, inequality amongst workers, and little efforts to fix the issue.

Data- Provides exact percentages of where the income is distributed and the Americans left over.

Warrant- Author adds commentary including opinion, differing view points, and inferences concerning the data.
