What is Performance Enhancing Drug?

Performance-enhancing drugs are any substance taken to perform better athletically. This term is referenced often and typically refers to anabolic steroid use in sports by professional and amateur athletes. Other substances may also be taken to improve performance, including human growth hormone (hGH).

What is Doping?

Doping is the word used in sport when athletes use prohibited substance or methods to unfairly improve their sporting performance.

Why is doping prohibited?:

The use of doping substance or doping methods to enhance performance is fundamentally wrong and is detrimental to the overall impact of sport. Drug misuse can be harmful to an athlete's health or to other athletes competing in the sport. It severely damages the integrity, image and value of sport, weather or not the motivation to use drugs is to improve performance.

What are Steriods?

"Steroids" has more than one meaning. Your body naturally produces some steroids, to help you fight stress and grow bigger during puberty. (But your body knows just the right amount that you need, so there's no need to take any extra.) There's also a type of medicine called steroids that people might take if they have pain, asthma, or a skin problem. But these aren't the kind of steroids getting attention in sports. Any of a large class of organic compounds with a characteristic molecular structure containing four rings of carbon atoms. They include many hormones, alkaloids and vitamins.

Types of PED(Performance Enancing Drugs).

There are 7 types of PED.

  • Lean mass builders: lean mass builders are used for reduce body fat. It also helps the athlete recover the injury faster.

  • Stimulants: It allows the body to perform by enhancing focus, energy and aggression. some of these examples are caffeine, amphetamine and methamphetamine.

  • Painkillers: Painkillers allows the athletes to suffer more then they usually do. Some of the painkillers raise blood pressure, increasing oxygen to supply to the muscles.

  • Sedatives and anxioltics: Sedatives and anxiolytics are used for archery which requires steady hands and accurate aim.

  • Diuretics: expels water from the body. Wrestlers use Diuretics most of the time.

  • Blood boosters: Blood boosters increase the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood beyond the individual's natural capacity. They are used in endurance sports like cycling and Nordic skiing.
  • Masking drugs, as a group, do not have any specific type of pharmacodynamic action; a masking drug is simply any drug used to prevent the detection of other classes of drugs.

  • Vitalijs Pavlovs
- Vitalijis pavlovs is a Latvian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for dinamo riga in KHL. Pavlovs is currently sanctioned by the international Olympics committee for falling an anti-doping test in the 2014 Sochi winter Olympics.

  • Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle
- Is a german cross country skier and biathlete from reit im winki who has competed since 1998. On 21 February 2014, it was confirmed that Sachenbacher-Stehle had tested positive PED at Sochi Olympic games

  • William Frullan
- William frullani is a decathlete and bobsleigh competitor from Italy. Frullani switched to bobsleigh in 2012. He tested positive for PED at the 2014 Winter Olympics and was excluded from the Italian team. He was replaced by Samuele.

I would never give away my precious life just for a gold,silver,bronze metal because i love my life more then the medals. The people who give away there life are crazy. I don't about no medals. I would never accept the medal for my life. People have to think before they make this kind of decision. The athletes who choose to take PED are not thinking about their loved ones and families and friends.
