Grading
I have had several parents to email me concerning grades. To make sure that we are all on the same page, my grading procedure is as follows:
Each day, I open my grade book on Infinite Campus and make a call for assignments to be turned in. This is done by having the students come to my desk and stand in line while I enter grades "live" or by having students place their homework into my "homework mailbox." Students are provided with a 1st, 2nd and Final call to turn in their work.
If a child does not turn in their work, it is notated in IC as "missing". IC assigns a "zero" for missing assignments. If an assignment is labeled as "missing", this means that, at the time that I entered the grade, your child did not turn in their assignment.
If an assignment is turned in 1 Day late, the MAX grade for that assignment is "70".
If an assignment is turned in 2 or more Days late, that assignment is recorded as a "zero" until the last two weeks of the semester (Amnesty Week).
I created Amnesty Week as a way for students to regain some credit for missing assignments. During Amnesty Week, students can turn in any missing work for a grade of "70". No work will be taken after that two-week window closes. It is the responsibility of the parent and child to check IC to see what assignments are missing.
