Bluebonnet Books 2019-2020
3rd-5th Grade State Reading List
Read Five Then Decide!
Texas Bluebonnet Award is a unique program that encourages reading for pleasure aimed at students in grades 3-6.
Each year, twenty books are chosen as the “Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List” by the TBA selection committee.
Students read a minimum of five books from the current master list (or have the books read aloud to them, or listen to the audiobooks) and have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title during the month of January each year.
Caraway students who read more than the minimum and complete/turn in a signed tracking sheet will be invited to an end-of-the-year Bluebonnet party!

Third graders will need to read at least 10, fourth graders at least 12, and fifth graders at least 15 books to be eligible for the party.
Students that read at least 15 books by mid-January will be eligible to compete to be a member of the Caraway team in the district-wide Battle of the Bluebonnets!
The author of the book receiving the most votes in the state of Texas is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.
These books are available in most Texas book stores and public libraries.
