FACE MASKS ON BUSSES

Last night the CCA School Board approved a recent recommendation from the CDC to no longer require students or staff to wear face masks on busses. This was made effective immediately.

Face Masks are not required in school or during transportation on school-provided vehicles as long as the CDC Community Level is at Low or Medium. If the CDC Community Level for our counties reaches High mask usage will be encouraged.

SCORE BIG WITH SCHOOL BREAKFAST - NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK MARCH 7 - 11

CCA has a special menu planned for each day of National School Breakfast Week (NSBW). Students may see building kitchen staff celebrating with different dress up themes.

On Tuesday students can get locally produced Country View Yogurt purchased from the Food Hub in Iowa City and it is being paired with Dick and Jane WG Cookies (to dunk in the yogurt).

Dick and Jane Snacks are themed cookies and they have an education background in the concept of their company. https://www.educationalsnacks.us/

CCA Staff are serving food and nutrition themed educational snacks in honor of National Nutrition Month and NSBW.

READ ACROSS AMERICA FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 4

The CCA Elementary Teacher Librarians collaborated together to celebrate the week with common theme days. Included this week were dress up days and read aloud books that go along with the theme each day.

CCA SELECTED AS A SITE FOR GREEN IOWA AMERICORPS

The District will once again be able to work with members of Green Iowa AmeriCorps to accomplish like minded goals to serve our communities and environment.

  • Outdoor Classroom- members have worked with staff on grants and funding
  • Sustainability curriculum- working on lessons that incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion, social and emotional learning, and environmental sustainability. Led a sustainability class and club during the 2020-21 school year.
  • Recycling- collected, painted, and distributed the new blue recycling bins in classrooms.
  • Composting- drafted a composting phase-in plan for the 2021-22 school year. Created lunchroom posters and materials for cafeterias.
  • Geocaching- we have placed greeniowaatcca geocaches around the district area to advocate for getting outside.

TEACHER RETENTION PAYMENT

In her Condition of the State address on January 11, 2022, Governor Kim Reynolds announced that full-time classroom teachers in Iowa would receive a retention payment for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this work, and as a means of providing premium pay to our educators, the State of Iowa (State) will offer $1,000 to each full-time pre-kindergarten through grade 12 (PK-12) in-person classroom teacher who stayed on the job through the pandemic and continues teaching to the end of this school year.

Each district or school must complete a number of actions based on the agency administering the funds on behalf of the governor.

The Clear Creek Amana Community School District is very appreciative of all the hard work every staff member has done and is doing for our students. We know the last few years have been difficult but the work has not gone unnoticed. The “teacher retention payment plan” was meant to retain teachers and we are aware it does not cover all district staff but we are working to do what we can to remediate that.
