Happy Summer!!!
Classroom Libraries
The link above gives an explanation as to the importance of WHY classroom libraries should be filled with a plethora of titles and from different genres. Every classroom at Lee Elementary should have a robust, not a compliance classroom library. What does that look like? Not just books on a shelf, but a system for checking out and returning. Books should be neatly organized in one place and easy to find. If you have an area in which students can sit such as a bean bag or a comfy chair, that's a bonus for our students!! The classroom library should be an inviting place where students can go read and get caught up in a book! We've talked about this mindset at Lee for the past 4 years.....we will create criteria when we return in August so that every student in every class has access to books during their independent reading time.
Summer Reading Pictures!
As you travel to your backyard or across the country don't forget to take a picture with your summer book! Our students and families love seeing where our reading has taken us over the summer! The bulletin board will have a Super Hero theme! This year we will vote on the most creative or most unique picture! Everyone (including our fabulous paras and support staff) should participate!
Summer PD
In an effort to support your growth and development please fill out the google doc below with your summer learning. Our learning should be tied to our T-TESS goals.
Math Can Do's and Must Do's
Math manipulatives were organized in the storage closet at the end of the third grade hall. These should be used to replenish and stock your math spiral and review activities during your math workshop. This allows you to work with small groups and keeps our other students reviewing skills previously taught.
