Clarke Central's iliad Wins High Honor for Student Literary Magazines
The 2022 edition iliad Literary-Art Magazine at Clarke Central High has been recognized as a REALM First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
A total of 262 middle school, high school, and higher-education student magazines across 42 states and five countries entered the NCTE's 2022 competition, and the iliad was one of only 38 magazines to earn the contest's highest distinction, REALM First Class.
“Last year’s edition ranks as one of my favorite among the 20-plus magazines I’ve advised students in producing since refounding the iliad in 2001 with a cadre of talented students," said David Ragsdale, Clarke Central teacher and iliad adviser. "The care in planning and executing the vision behind Volume 47, 'astraeus,' was breathtaking."
iliad Editor-in-Chief Kaija Gilbertson Hall, who served as Co-Editor-in-Chief in 2022, was proud of
the recognition.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized by REALM. Their mission is so aligned with the iliad’s, and
it feels amazing to have our hard work recognized by their organization.” Gilbertson Hall said.
