Bulldog Newsletter
February 26th, 2021
Dear Bulldog Families,
We are very excited to be planning the next stages of Hybrid & Remote Learning. Please be sure to check out timely updates from Superintendent Dr. Campbell Friday eNewsletter for the most up-to-date information related to our Hybrid transition. There will be new information about our transition in the newsletter sent out today.
Window Closed for Choosing Hybrid or Remote
The window closed last Friday, Feb. 19 for choosing 100% remote or hybrid.
We provided parents a second opportunity with an additional 9 days to make their final selection for the remainder of the school year with the final survey deadline of last Friday, Feb. 19.
Now that the deadline has passed, we are unable to accommodate any requests to change the selection. The reason why is that making changes after the deadline would significantly delay the start of in-person learning. While we are making every effort to keep teachers and students together, recognizing we must adhere to social distancing guidelines and class size limitations and respond to parents’ choice of the model and staff accommodation requests, we must rebalance classrooms. This means your child’s teacher may change. We recognize changes are not ideal, and we’re doing what we can to maintain continuity as much as possible and school staff will be supporting the transition.
Complete online Health Screening (attestation) Form Required Before Entering the Classroom
It is very important that all families in the hybrid model complete the daily and required online health screening (attestation).
Once school begins, families selecting face-to-face instruction will receive a daily link to complete the health survey for each child. More information can be found at www.fwps.org/healthscreening

Important Health and Safety Measures
Here is a preview of some of the safety measures we are taking:
- Daily health screening attestation and temperature checks must be completed every day for all staff and scholars before they enter the school building
- Masks will be required for all school staff and students; if a scholar does not comply and wear their mask, parent/guardian will be called to pick them up
- Scholars will arrive on a staggered schedule to promote social distancing
- Social Distancing will be practiced in all areas and there will be regular handwashing throughout the day
- Visitors will not be allowed on campus in order to minimize the number of people on campus
In Partnership,
Principal Ellenbecker

Change in Immunization Law
Due to this change, in order for scholars to return to in-person instruction, they must provide documentation of proof of immunizations.
Our school nurse has been working hard to reach out to families of scholars who are currently non-compliant. Reminder letters have been sent out and calls are being made.
The school office has a list of scholars who are currently non-compliant, if you have a question regarding your child's immunizations we can help you with the information you gave us upon registration.
These are open to families from any county. For an appointment call (253) 403-1767.

Silver Lake PTA - Board Members Needed!
The Silver Lake PTA serves our school community by offering community building events, providing grants for special supplies and much more. Recently, our community helped to raise over $150 during the Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser. We thank all of our members and volunteers for showing their ongoing dedication to this wonderful school community!
The PTA is seeking parents who would like to serve on the PTA board. We will need to fill the positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer for the 2021-2022 school year. We are asking parents to make nominations or to self nominate as candidates to fill the open board positions. The current board will help the incoming board become comfortable in their new roles. We ask that all those interested attended the next virtual PTA meeting on Thursday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m.
Without a PTA board in place for next year, we cannot operate as a PTA. This will have a tremendous impact on our school community.
During the meeting on March 4th, we will present the nominees and also discuss a possible community event. We will vote to fill the open positions at the May PTA meeting. If you are unable to attend, but would like to be considered for a board position or if you have any questions, please email SilverlakePTA2016@gmail.com by March 2.
