Cool Cat News
Principal Brief
March 5-9
Cool Cats,
At every school in Wylie, Checkpoint days are stressful. We all feel the weight - Pre-k-4 all over the district! Checkpoint data determines interventions, Saturday School, tutoring and is a future predictor of how our students will perform on STAAR. No wonder we all felt the stress this week. It is hard not to! A BIG thanks to ALL of you for making this week a great one. The kids exceeded our expectations (we were actually either #1 or #2 in the district on all tests) and did awesome on their Checkpoints. The students were prepared because of the great work you ALL do in preparing them, starting in pre-k. Vanessa did an outstanding job of coordinating testing. Her organization and planning made Checkpoint testing run smooth! Chase Oaks will be here on Friday, March 2 with a popcorn bar to celebrate the hard work you put into teaching each and every day! Friday is also, Read Across America Day. This is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place on Dr. Seuss's Birthday each year on March 2. I am reading to pre-k, PPCD and 1st. If you would like for me to do a read-aloud with your grade level let me know. Next week is college week! Please wear a college shirt every day! You may wear jeans and leave when your kids are dismissed for an extra perk.
As most of you know, Charmin Mccune and her family are relocating to the New Braunfels area. Her last day will be March 30. We will miss her so much! Please take time in the next few weeks to give her a hug, this transition mid year is hard. I know Comal ISD is getting one of the best! Mrs. Eppler, interviewed for the position and will be teaching pre-k next year. She began her start at Hartman teaching pre-k and that is where her love is. If you are wanting a grade level change for next year please let me know. We added a teacher tutor to help with interventions for April and May. Please welcome Leah Grantham. She is a recent graduate of A&M and just completed her student teaching at Tibbals. We will look at data to see where she is needed the most.
Thanks for taking time to complete the carnival survey. I will collect the responses and give them to Steven who is our teacher representative on the PTA Board. The carnival was fantastic, but I know we are all looking for ways to improve. Thank you Bethany for organizing such a great event for our students!

Please take a few minutes to give your responses to the Cool Cat Staff Survey. Your opinion matters to me! You may also print the survey and turn it into my box. Hartman is a great place to be! Thanks to all of you who have completed the survey so far.
