Mr. Downin's Monthly Newsletter
Bernardo School, Room 36
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Parent-Teacher Conferences next week. Our Monday folders were especially full this Monday so I didn't send the confirmation letters home, didn't want them to get lost in the shuffle! All confirmation letters will come home on Tuesday in the homework folders. I did my best to accommodate everyone's 1st requested time. If your assigned time won't work, please email me and we can figure out something that works.
Don't forget our Library Day is Friday. All students should have both their library books that day to either renew or check in.
All students have one designated day and time per week to take Accelerated Reader quizzes in class. The library is open most days before and after school too!
Picture Day, Wednesday October 7th
Come to school looking great!! Our class pictures will be taken this Wednesday.
If you'd like to help out on Fridays, please contact either Mrs. Bohan (firstname.lastname@example.org) or myself. Let us know when you'd like to come in and help out, or if you have an idea for a project. Special thanks to all the parents who have come in already to give us a hand, I appreciate your help!!
Upcoming field trip
Friday, Nov. 6th, 9pm
31322 Cole Grade Road
Valley Center, CA
We are going to see a theater production of Into The Woods Jr. on Friday, November 6th at the Maxine Theater in Valley Center.
Here are the essential questions from unit two:
What are some strategies to make a reasonable estimate?
How is time measured?
How is weight or mass measured?
What are some efficient methods to add and subtract?
What are some models to represent addition and subtraction?
We will also continue with our times tables test each Friday. All students know what number they are studying and have a set of flashcards to help study at home.
If you don't have a set that can stay at school, students can buy them from me. Mrs. Grauer told me they're available at the dollar store for a buck, so I can collect the money and buy them if parents can send a dollar.
