A Message from the Director
Parents and students,
Thank you CA Drama Club for your wonderful portrayal of Into the Woods! The set, the direction, the make-up and lighting were all student created and executed. I am so proud of these young people and all they have accomplished this year. Thank you Mrs. Haney for making it possible.
On Thursday, May 9 our 9 - 11 grade students will trade in their old laptops for new ones. Make sure you bring your laptop and charger on that day for the exchange. If you have lost your charger please go online and pay for it or see Mrs. Lane in the front office. You will not be able to exchange your laptop without the charger or proof that you have paid for it.
Seniors, you will turn your laptop and charger in on May 14 between 11am and 2pm. Make sure you have your charger or bring $45 when you turn in your laptop. All fees will need to be paid before graduation!
PhoenixON!

Link: CA Decision Day Celebration
also please complete the signup if you are willing to donate any refreshments for that day
We hope that you can join us as we celebrate our seniors who have decided to attend a college, trade-school, or join the military upon high school graduation. Parents are encouraged to attend our celebration on Friday, May 3 at 9:00 am in the Collegiate Academy Common Area.
As a part of this event, we would like to open the celebrations up to parents as well. Parents will have the opportunity to give their child a Decision Day-driven gift.
Some ideas/suggestions for the Decision Day small gift include anything with the logo or colors of the university/college, trade-school or military branch in which your child plans to attend--such as: t-shirt, keychain, water bottle, car decal, bumper sticker, pens, pencils, notebook/binder, notepad, candy, flowers, pennant, greeting card with a gift card, etc.
Gifts may be dropped off on May 2nd for those parents who are unable to attend. Please be sure that gifts are clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name

Seniors scholarship update
We are so proud of your accomplishments and want to make sure that we have all of the information needed to celebrated both your collective and individual scholarships/awards this year. Ms. Young has a fairly accurate idea of the scholarships offered to you by universities/colleges via their regular admission processes, but she needs some help with other awards.
If you have completed an application for a specific scholarship - one offered by a local, state, national or academic organization or institution - and you have been selected to receive any form of scholarship as a response to that application, we want to recognize this at our Senior Awards Breakfast next month.
Please send Ms. Young (robin.young@gcisd.net) the title, award amount, and a few words about the scholarships you have received as result of a specific application process, interview, essay, etc.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Horatio Alger Scholarship
- GCISD PTSA scholarships
- Scholarships from faith-based organizations
- Scholarships posted to the GCISD GO Center / high school websites
- Competitive scholarships that required a selection process from a university you will attend next year
- Scholarships from corporations, non-profit organizations

Scholarships for College-Bound, High School Seniors
A great source of scholarship money for families looking for college funds may be their own employer(s). Many companies offer scholarships for their employees or their children, but it may not be common knowledge. It pays, literally and figuratively, for parents to take the time and ask their human resources liaison if such scholarships exist. This is especially true if you work for a larger corporation or a more established company.
Once the graduating senior has been accepted at a particular college, they need to meet with a financial aid officer at the school to find out what scholarship resources the school may have to offer for a shortfall in college money. Often, schools can cover some of the remaining cost or recommend the student for a scholarship.
