Welcome, Panthers!
Welcome all to the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year! CCMS is proud to begin the year of with Panther Prep on Monday, August 28th and Tuesday, August 29th. Students should report to their period 7 class at 8:20am on both days. There are no middle school zero period classes until Wednesday, August 30. Zero period Biology Honors starts on Tuesday, August 29th. Panthers should not bring supplies or backpacks during Panther Prep. Panthers can buy or pack a lunch and should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle as we will be spending time outside. See you on Monday!
STUDENT CLASS SCHEDULES
The word is out that CCMS is a jewel of a school and our enrollment is soaring! We are extremely fortunate to be able to offer the programs and supports that make this a truly remarkable school. With that in mind, please note that students' schedules may have changed as we have added new sections to ensure balanced and smaller class sizes. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we do our best to support ALL our students and plan for a marvelous year ahead.
Students will get their official schedule during Panther Prep. The last day to request a schedule change is September 8th. Please remember that schedule changes are based on availability of courses and are not a guarantee.
Drop offs and Parking at CCMS
The Natatorium demolition project on the parking lot between Farragut and CCMS has gifted us a fabulous opportunity to explore our community. For years, the traffic on Elenda, Braddock and Farragut has been a challenge and cause for many late arrivals. This is the perfect opportunity to explore better options for student drop-off and parking.
For drop-offs: We highly recommend that you use the bridge entrance on Ocean Drive (off Overland) to drop off your student . Your student can then walk across the bridge and head directly into the Middle School. Many of our families already do this to avoid the slow-moving lines on Elenda. Furthermore, to ensure the safety of our students, we will have security personnel directing traffic and overseeing the safe entrance to campus for all our Panthers.
For parking: Since the school lot will only be accessible to CCUSD personnel, we highly encourage you to park and walk or, better yet, take on our 3 Block Challenge. Park near Coombs or Vets Park and enjoy a crisp morning walk.
The optimal solution: Walk, bike, skate, or roll to school. We have a lovely bike rack to secure your bike, skateboard or scooter. Please make sure you bring your locking device with you! We are a proud Green Ribbon school and welcome all our students and families to enjoy the health and wellness benefits of a little exercise in the morning, and get the added bonus of helping to minimize our environmental impact!
PE CLOTHES
Kathy Vigil, PTSA Student Store Coordinator will be selling PE clothes on Monday and Tuesday, August 28 and 29, in the CCMS Student Store from 7:30-8:00am. T-Shirts and Shorts sizes are: Youth Large, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large, and Adult XL. $12 each for shirt or shorts. Checks should be made payable to CCMS PTSA. Cash or checks would be appreciated (the credit card machine is finicky as it is dependent on a network connection).
